Calzaghe rejects Hopkins rematch. he did a column in his local paper. not exactly a sursprise that he rejected it. mentions lack of motivation. interesting as well that joe admits a lack of motivation at times during his carear and that he fought guys that no-one had heard of. not really telling us anyting we dont know buts its interesting to hear joe say it.

As you say not a surprise. But this is the only fight I would've like to see Joe take - in view of his close fight with hopkins and also after hop's win over Pavlik

Glad he turned it down. I couldn`t sit through another 12 rounds of that crap.

If he fights on, he should fight Froch.

Hopkins had a great chance of getting a big win over Joe but he effed it up by throwing two punches a round and then holding, some legend

Cazlaghe needs to stick around and clean up light heav.

He's still mot faced the best of Europe, Thomas Ulrich. Jurgen Brahmer, Zsolt Erdei.

He won't be recognised as a legend until he fights them 8)

Legend in his own household, nowhere else!

Hopkins doesn;t deserve a remtach. He clinched and cheated his way to a loss in the first fight. Fuk im.

No one left for Calzaghe to beat that improves his standing, better to retire, besides no way will be please everyone regardless of who he fights or what he does.

There are plenty of fighters he could fight to improve his standing.

Since when is beating 6 top level fighters not better than beating 4? His standing will improve with every big win he gets.

Good, Hopkins doesn't deserve it anyway, Hopkins is done and any high level fighters with skills would beat Pavlik but Pavlik did a Hatton and used the weight excuse.

Oh Really? Say's who? You?

Pavlik has got more heart than Joe anyday.
I personally rate Pavlik higher than Joe.

Don't forget who ducked who.

How Joe conveniently ran to LH to face 2 old men, rather than face a daunting dangerous young fighter like Pavlik, that is actually established, unlike an over-hyped unproven mediovred fighter like Lacy.

Face it mate, Joe is a fraud and will not be seen near any ring where he will be the underdog

Joe just wants easy money anyway. As you ay observer every fight bar 2 (Eubank / Lacy) he was the favorite to win. Even then he had big advantages (freshness / home advantage).

Joe looked like a retired fighter the last roud vs RJJ. Notice how Jones lands a few hard body shots and Joe backs off and stops fighting. Shows off for the last full minute rather than fighting.

"Hope free! Yipee!"

"Cashed in! No need to mash him!"

Pavlik would not beak Kessler let alone Joe.

Pavlik is too basic and he wins mopst fights due to being the bigger man which he would not be agaisnt Calzaghe.

JC would have won 119-10.

Lets see Pavlik Vs Abrahms or even Froch!

:D

One of those so called 'old men' totally outclassed the 'daunting dangerous young fighter' Pavlik :TU:

Furthermore, Joe was the slight underdog against Lacy according to the bookies ........

Say what you like about Joe and his career, but I would never question the guy's heart. I have never seen him take a backward step in a fight, if he gets caught hard, he fights back harder. See his 4 career knockdowns for examples!

And, considering he was consensus P4P 3 when he retired and the 2 guys above him are small men, how can he be considered an underdog in any fight except for fighting at heavyweight and 1 or 2 cruisers.

You do know Gary "Sockett" would be one of the few big wins of Joe's career had he had him on his resume right?

I'm not saying Joe is not a good fighter. The guy is a talented boxer. But facts are facts, he wasted his talent facing Mediocre fighters in a poor division, and faced 2 very old men.

Someone of Joe's calibre could have achieved alot more.

Atleast Pavlik has already been Prime v Prime against someone like Taylor (twice) and Miranda, and the age of only 26.

Calzaghe's is 10 years his senior and has still taken less risks, see where i am coming from ?

I see where you are coming from, you're an idiot who hates Calzaghe and would write anything no matter how ridiculous to put him down. Hence you build someone like Miranda up, someone who has failed every time at top level and is now boxing at York Hall. Hence you say that Calzaghe ran to light-heavy, after 11 years at super-middle. That's a very slow run.
Why not give it up, eh?

It does not surprise me at all that Joe has turned down a possibility of a Hopkins rematch. Like Calzaghe states, the motivation & desire is no longer there & once that has gone, particularly at the highest level, its a dangerous game to continue without those essentials.

Also, Joe probably knows that, just like last time, Hopkins would come very close to defeating him. I would favour Hopkins to beat Calzaghe if they squared off again.
