Boxer in court on assault charge
A professional boxer has appeared in court accused of assault.
Jamie Cox, aged 22, was arrested at the end of 2008 after an incident at a Swindon nightclub, but failed to report for police bail on Saturday.
The Commonwealth Boxing gold medal winner handed himself in to police on Wednesday afternoon and was kept in custody.
He appeared before magistrates in Swindon on Thursday and was released on conditional bail until 16 April.

i wonder if the board will take the same action that they did with scott harrison and suspend his licence!
hes been making good progress aswell

They suspended Scott's licence when he failed to turn up for the check weigh-in for the fight with Cook. It was after that the legal stuff took over.

If the board are aware of the particular offense they tend to suspend the licence for the duration of the sentance. Obviously that includes imprisonment but also while they are on a tag and on community service

Jamie Cox is a fantastic prospect. He is as good as any of the recent Olympians who have turned pro, but unfortunately his discipline outside the ring has been a problem for a while. I worry that he is going to end up going the same way as Bradley Saunders. I hope I'm wrong.

Jamie is a switched on kid and will be ok... He'll be back boxing in no time hopefully!! Also this was self defence!!!

Do you know if he is still fighting on the April 24 bill in Wolverhampton Bomber?
