Members, NSW Combat Sports Authority

In late 2008 the NSW Government passed the Combat Sports Bill through Parliament.
Once commenced, the Combat Sports Act will replace the Boxing and Wrestling Control Act 1986.

The new Act provides for the establishment of a Combat Sports Authority which will take over the
functions of the Boxing Authority of NSW as currently relating to supervision of professional Boxing.

In addition, the Combat Sports Authority will have responsibility for the supervision of the other sports
identified in the Act and regulation. These sports will include Muay Thai, Cage fighting and Mixed Martial Arts.

Other sports may be identified in the future for coverage under the Combat Sports Regulation.

In order to promote a high standard of professionalism in the Combat Sports industry, the Minister for
Sport and Recreation, the Hon Kevin Green MP is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified or
experienced persons who can contribute to the development of the Combat Sports industry through membership
of the Combat Sports Authority.

Members of the Authority will be expected to attend Combat Sports contests in order to supervise the conduct
of the events, including liaison with Combat Sports Authority officials, promoters, trainers, referees, judges, timekeepers
and others. In view of the importance of maintaining an ethically based system, the task will also include supervision
of the dressing rooms.

Expressions of interest will be particularly welcome from female persons who are interested in the regulation of the
Combat Sports events in which women are competing, which have been identified as growing in interest.

Selection criteria: Interested persons will be required to have knowledge and experience in some aspect of the
Combat Sports industry. Candidates for membership will be expected to demonstrate a capacity to exercise good
judgment in a high-pressure situation, a willingness to undergo any training which is required for membership of
the Authority, and a commitment to the efficient operation of the regulatory system.

Interested persons should also be able to demonstrate good communication and negotiation skills. Members
will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.

Remuneration: An annual allowance is payable to Members of the Combat Sports Authority according to the
guidelines issued by the Premier and subject to satisfactory attendance of meetings and contests.

Interested persons can contact Stefan Couani on (02) 9006 3895 for further information.

Expressions of interest should be sent to: Combat Sports Authority, NSW Sport and Recreation, Locked Bag 1422
Silverwater NSW 2128.
