ok I can see that Maloney has distressed a few Irish fans due to his one sided slant on the dunne-munroe situation. before dunne beat cordoba in a classic. round 1 to dunne.

"maloney can go to hell", "munroe doesn't deserve a shot", "i'll be glad if peters doesn't give you a chance" etc etc. these are some of the responses - a bit extreme, a bit gleeful.

but maloney has the big Irish star/prospect Darren Sutherland, he has Jamie Moore - a former Irish champ among domestic and Euro honours. After Moore beat Piccirillo, I think I read that Moore might be headlining in Ireland with Sutherland on the card.

if Sutherland goes on to do big things, will the same ppl be so down on FM?

i can see why, to be honest, 'barn. FTM was playing it pretty confrontational before Dunne-Cordoba, with the press releases and so on, and it doesn't look like he's got any more conciliatory over the weekend either

i don#'t foresee any problems for Sutherland though- who can hate on Darren?

Fans tend to get overreative after seeing their fav fighter win and even more in such fashion. They'll calm down eventually.

Frank Maloney has thick skin - he will not be upset. The Dunne and Munroe fight now as a new edge.
Frank can take it ... he would go to Dublin tomorrow to debate the fight with 500 Dunne fans in a boozer.
He's an old school promoter.

I agree in a way, the reponse from many to just ignore Dunne now surprises me.
Why not have Dunne make Munroe and Maloney pay the harshest way, by hammering him in the ring.
The fight makes the most sense, Dunne holds a World title, Munroe is European champion(and soon to be Commonwealth) and has twice beaten the man that beat Dunne.

However Maloney's comments lead me to believe it won't happen.
That Rendall has a path set out and that they'll stick to that, and that Dunne needs Munroe more than Munroe needs Dunne leads me to believe that the path Frank has is keep Munroe defending the European title for as long as possible, while maybe picking up the British and Commonwealth on the way. Then whenever he becomes a mandatory(which he will eventually defending the EUropean strap) fight for a title.
Take his hammering in the title fight and the cash and retire.

I don't think Maloney believes Munroe would beat Dunne, despite his comments.
He's not showing an eagerness to make the fight and there's a damn good reason for that.
There's less risk and more money in continuing to defend the European title, so that's what he'll do.

yeah munroe should be the first defence , nice handy one for dunne imo , then fight the thai lad (poonsawat) who is also beatable then step up to featherweight , i think caballero would be too strong for dunne but you never know !

Bernard Dunne took some stick from Maloney, Munroe's fans, and even Munroe himself was not adverse to getting a little dig in, when he was in Dublin before the Trotta fight and and was asked about a possible fight with Dunne, he said with a smirk on his face, "Does he really look like someone that I'd have trouble with?"

Dunne has been a gentleman in all his dealings with Munroe and Maloney and always keeps it civil as does Peters. Like in the press conference before the Pickering fight when another mouthy brit was saying "I can tell Bernard that I'm going to knock him out, he can't look me in the eye and say the same to me", when Dunne simply said, "I do my all talking in the ring", and look what happened there!

Look Irish fans support their boxers to the hilt and when we hear the likes of Maloney (who is Irish born by the way, I'm ashamed to say), running their mouths about Dunne, you cannot be suprised if we take offence.

Darren wasnt the most people amateur in Ireland back in the days! Many disliked him and the was boo'd after winning he last senior title!

Thankfully Darren got to show his personality a bit more during the Olympic run up and people warmed to his honest and pen nature.

I'm sure Maloney has suffered much worse.

I didnt think Maloney was Irish born - I thought he had Irish parents.

He acts as Irish as Clinton Morrison!

I hope his St. George's Day card goes well though!

Maloney is doing nothing that hasn't been done a million times before by other prmoters/managers.

Edit - As you often say this would be the fight that makes the most sense now. It would be huge in dublin if sold as a real grudge match.
Would the contractual agreements of both fighters not be a factor here with dunne with rte and munroe with sky? I can remember there being issues before or was that some kind of smokescreen?

My view is that ppl are overreacting.

Dunne is 29 and had hardly achieved his potential before taking the Cordoba fight. He was open to criticism if you ask me. All that hype, all that ability, and "all" he was, was a former EBU champ.

His previous fight was a TD win over Faccio. Pre Cordoba, the most recent memory of Dunne is of a guy covered in blood, unable to continue after coming off the worst from a head clash. Now, Dunne won fairly - he was well ahead, boxing beautifully for the most - but a TD is hardly the impression you'd want to make. Couple that with the Martinez loss, and you have a fighter who needed to prove something. A massive amount to prove, considering Faccio shook him once also.

OK, he did that with Cordoba - big time. And deserves props for taking the fight.

Don't forget that Munroe took a big chance fighting Martinez that first time.

Well that what i did believe but Dunne proved me wrong and as i said well done and i hope he earns well from his title, But one good win does not make you the second coming. I do think all you Irish fans are getting a little carried away with yourselfs,If Brain Peters wants to make the fight and Randell will beats Dunne, that way Brain will never make that fight he would hate to lose to a english fighter, So he will try and pick an dead beat south american. I am so sirprised that he even thinking of taking Dunne to LV as the irish home base fans are worth a few rounds start to him.Good business would be to keep him in Dublin for a while.
