WBC named Vitali best P4P Heavyweight Puncher...ever..
The WBC has declared reigning heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko to be “the greatest puncher ever in the heavyweight division.”
Official WBC Statement: “[Vitali] Klitschko proved that he is the best fighter in the world nowadays, pound for pound, after defeating Juan Carlos Gomez who had a record of 35 knockouts in 44 wins and only 1 loss. Klitschko has outdone all other fighters, no matter what division they belong to. The heavyweight world champion is the only one who can claim he is the greatest champion in the world of boxing as nobody can defeat him. With Vitali´s extraordinary wins, in fights that have been stunning to world fans, showing absolute control and power, our king of the heavyweights has silenced many mouths and media that had unfairly attacked him without any evidence, and been disrespectful to him, considering the great class he is showing. Jose Sulaiman, president of our organization, stated today that Klitschko is the pride the WBC as well as he is the pride of world boxing. Vitlai Klitschko’s record is now: 37 wins; 36 of them by knockout, and including his last win by KO, his percentage in this specialty went up to 97.2%, fact after which Klitschko is placed as the greatest puncher ever in the heavyweight division''

I find this very disrespectful towards all the great old timers!
Vitali is lucky that there is no real challenge (apart from his brother) in the HW devision.

Might have something to do with the fact that most of his opponents have been a pile of shite.

He has got massive power, no doubting that. Lewis took his shots though and gave some in return.
That said, he hits as hard and accurate as anyone out there right now.

He has the bst ever KO stats, and that in itself cannot be argued with.
However it doesn't take into account level of opposition or how the KOs are arrived at - Vitali grinds them down rather than bombs them out. For single-shot power, there have been many HWs who hit harder.

True, he does tend to wear the opponent down, but he got quality one shot power as well. Herbie Hide being a good example. I think as he has gotten older, his diminished speed has effected his power somewhat.
Still think if he hits Haye on the chin, it`s goodnight Vienna for the old Hayemaker.

If the WBC is going to peddle press releases which in tone and relation to reality are the boxing equivalent of the Pravda op-ed page circa 1949, it should at least hire somebody who can actually write well in English.
That press release, on many levels, is indicative of just what a tin pot outfit that nest of racketeers is.

Haha, best P4P puncher still paying sanctioning fees to the WBC maybe. I'll concede that he uses what he's got very well, keep the opponent at arms length and then hold if he's anywhere near but that did make me laugh when I read it.
