Just a rundown of the evening, and the results. A very eventful show indeed- a great one to take people to who had never been to boxing before.

First, the venue was good, but only partially used, and that which was used was maybe 3/4 close to full. There were four rows of ringside seats and 4 rows of flat floor (the £125 ones) behind that.

Results-

Matthews V Harry- Harry wins KO round 4.

Matthews dominating this totally, looked to get clipped and went down, seemed to get up at 9 and looked OK, but was waved off. Matthews furious and stormed out the ring. Afterwards Matthews was in the crowd, seemed much calmer.

VERY dubious stoppage.

McNally V Delaheady-

Del down in round three, pulled out during the break.

Lee Jennings V Karl Taylor-

40-36. Nothing more, nothing less, than a typically (and decent enough) prospect v journeyman fight.

Gethin V Watson

95-96 to Watson.

Gethin seemed to have the edge, to me, but a close one. Some circus style theatricals in the very last round.

Groves V Samuels- Groves by stoppage round 1

Samuels came out as Zorro, was down in the first round then stopped prematurly.

Price V Ingelby- Price KO3

Round three, Price lost his gumshield, the second time, and Ingelby whacked him! did seem to wobble his legs a bit. Cracking knockout shortly afterwards.

Fahey V Dasfswf wefwfwqefqwefqwfqwef

40-36 to the flamboyant Sheffiled man, against a durable Latvian opponent- not bad for 20 minutes "filler."

Main event

Dodson V Quigley

Dodson really shock up and down in round 2, then totally took over the fight, cut check round 8-9 and continued. Caught Quigley flush with a very good shot round 9-10 which he took well. Seem very wobbled at the end of round 11 (Dodson.) Just needed to survive round 12 to win on points, but put down twice, after the second he seemed to struggle to stand, should have bee stopped. Was stopped shortly after. Amazingly main event.

All in all, a great show- some top matches, and very entertaining evening. Cheaper prices I'm sure would attract a better crowd, too.

Don't know whether you saw or not but Mathews was looking over to his corner when the count was at 7/8 and they were shouting to him to get up. I don't know whether this distracted him or not?
Obviously he was trying to take the full count and get up at the last minute but he seemed to have regained his senses quite quickly and I wasn't sure why he was taking so long.
There is always that danger that the later you get up, the more chance the ref waves it off, especially if you showed the slightest inclantion of being unsteady on your feet.
The ref should never have stopped it though, Mathews was clearly able to continue.

Yeah, I think Derry was set to get up almost right away, on 3 or 4, but the corner said "Take 8" which he did, and he got up ready to fight on.
