Patrick Maxwell - Sparked!!!

by Spud
Just heard from someone ringside that Patrick Maxwell was sparked in the first rund against ex squaddie Nick Okoth - Maxwell was giving away about a stone in weight but nonetheless the result is a turn up.
Apparently Maxwell stormed out of the ring saying he was ready to continue - he didn't even realise he had been sparked and claimed an outrageous result this despite being flattened and being face first on the canvas!!!

I was at ringside Spud and he was knocked out so badly that he was twitching like he was having a fit. When Dave Coldwell took back to the corner, Patrick started kicking off about the fight being stopped. Like when Audley was KOed by Sprott, he was hit so hard that he didn't even realise he'd been knocked out.

I know Mr Maxwell could be a bit of a 'character' on these boards in the past, but I'd think about changing the tone of your post Spud. Whether you mean to or not, it comes across a bit like taking genuine pleasure in a fighter being badly knocked out, which sits uncomfortably with me for one.

I'll second that. And i'll add, as a regular poster to this forum, that as far as i can recall, P J Maxwell was alright. I dont recall him being a problem around here so cannot work out the reason for Spud's gloating. The only plausible exlanation for Spud's behavior then would have to be that he is a fcuking twat!
Get your coat Spud :>

Agree.
Pat's a good and popular fellow by all accounts, so the fact he was stopped is not nice but part of boxing.
Boxerc has Okoth listed as being a cruiser??
Caught cold by the sounds of it.

Like nobody on here was cheering when prescott knocked Khan out, or when hatton got sparked by mayweather....

DG,
Don't call him Patrick Drinkwater either.
Pat had a tendency on the boards to call out numerous fighters from LM to SM.
Unfortunately he has failed to back it up where it matters - in the ring.
He has been horrifically inactive over the years - but when active, he was a force to be reckoned with.
Pat needs a sustained period of 6 to 8 fights in a 12 month cycle and I'm sure we'd see the best of him.
Ring rust takes some shaking off - and training cannot do that.

Blimey, sounds a bizzare fight - good write up Ian. Did anyone film it?
I remember Pat posting on various boards a few years back, hope he's alright.

Didn't see anyone, MW. Might have helped poor Pat realise what had happened though.

Thats a shame. Met Patrick a few times. He's a gentleman and a good honest pro.

Khan does not post on here so it does not count.

I agree re: the inactivity. I think most if it is down to promotional disputes of one kind or another.
Hayemaker seems to be a place he can get regular fight and hoepfully he does.
Is Okoth a Cruiser?

Didn't you get sparked out a few years back. We enjoyed that story on the boards.
How dare you say SPUD was sparked!
He was not sparked....... he ran off before that happened!

as a relatively new member of the forum i dont know how many people on this forum have ever been knocked out in a boxing ring(it can happen to anyone), i have and can tell you it is a horrible experience, for fighter, their family and their opponent, most of whom hope immediately after the 10 count that the opponent gets up.
Although it is an exciting part of our great sport, it should be remembered that many great men have been knocked out and never woke up.

Ahhhh - here we go again.
Absolutely no reason to gloat - I know Patrick Maxwell and have no reason to gloat whatsoever at his latest result.
I have read my original post and see no reason whatsoever to change it.

Your post is a good one and I will repeat my previous post - I have no reason to gloat over Patrick Maxwell's latest result - I wasn't even at the fight and merely reported something that was relayed to me by someone who was there.
Whilst I completely agree Pat Maxwell is an okay bloke - with that said I see no reason to change my post.
As for the normal crew of posters who only come out of the woodwork to have a pop - get back in your box or return to the playground - boxrec has moved on from the childish days - it seems there is a number of you bursting at the seams to come out with the normal boring sh*t !!!
Anyone who knows me from attending shows will also know that I have the utmost respect for all boxers and at the sametime I will enter into the same banter that is continually directed at me!!!
Search - for the record - if you are on about the Paul King incident - yes Paul King did "clip" me in Las Vegas - yep I got wound up about the incident - but despite what many people's wishes - no Paul King did not floor me and he certainly did not knock me out - they are quite simply the facts although he did p*ss himself laughing at me because I had a thick lip.
Same names - same boring shit - see if you can keep to boxing!!!
I will repeat - there is no gloating from me - however some of you need to start telling some truths - how many of you expressed your delight at Audley Harrison gettting sparked by Michael Sprott - I can remember how popular the thread was - someone even posted the clip of Frank W arren jumping out of his chair - in addition how many people expressed their delight at Amir Khan getting sparked by Bredis Prescott etc etc etc - yep I was one of those to - at least I have the balls to admit - some of you really are hypocritical w*nkers!!! - am I sometimes - yep certainly am - but for f*ck sake some of you act like utter saints - its almost laughable!!!

Shame, Most importantly I hopePat is ok as he has alway's been a decent fella when I have spoken to him on various board's.
Must admit I was one who was happy when both Audley and Amir got beat.

Seems to be a few people jumping on Spuds case here, reading his original post I'm a little unsure to why some of you are getting your knickers in a twist!
