I notice Matthew Thirlwall is challenging Prizefighter contender Steve Ede for the Southern-Area middleweight title. I always thought Thirlwall looked a great prospect as an amateur, I think he knocked out seven of his eight opponents when he won the ABAs. Is this his last chance to make an impact as a professional?

It's a fight Matthew is more than capable of winning, despite his inactivity. Ideally I would have preferred him to have a couple of eight rounders first, but it's now or never for the exciting Thirlwell. At least the opportunity to box for a title has finally arrived.

ron mccracken will have thirlwall in goo shape, im pleased for matthew, but it is possibly his last chance as this whole charade is dragging on too long.

I agree this is Matthews last chance - problem with him all along has been whether he really wants it or not!!! Have to say though enjoyed him boxing on shows in the early days - he always brought a bloody nice bird along to see him box!!

Ahhh Davey Walker - what a bloody brilliant and brave lad he was!!! I loved seeing him fight - again another one who I am sure would have done very well for himself if he lived the life properly - perhaps now and in hindsight Davey was matched a tadge too harshly when learning fights may have been the way forward - nonetheless always exciting to watch.

Thirlwall looked like he was going places after his exciting win over Donovan Smillie, but that was over 3 years ago now. Seems to have been marking time since then.

Who's his promoter now?

Thirlwall will start favourite of Ede, and if he is on form i'd go for a stoppage around round 7 or 8.
But if Thirlwall hasn't prepared correctly then Ede might get into a rythum and get a narrow points win.

Say that for the lads Hennessy signs - very rare to see someone leave him.

Should be a good atmosphere, Ede brings along quite a few fans

It should be a cracking fight , as long as Ede goes for it as well, and doesn't play it too cagey.

ede's a strong middle matthew should have far too much class,but if he's been cutting corners he'll get found out which he has done in the past.
he's been in the gym 4 a while now thirlwall getting elcock ready in sparring,so he's fit & should do the biz.

Yes, he always had a fit bird waiting for him after he got out of the ring

Also regarding Terry, he did have a glass in his hand regarding that attack.
