Technically limited in my opinion, but he can whack!

Impressive but i would like to see more of him , hes got power but imo he will be on the deck a few times before his careers over

As has been said though he is technically limited but with that power he will blast out all but the very best IMO...

Not many southpaws hit that hard, i think thats one of the reasons he's so hard to beat

Definitely a banger and that left is as straight as an arrow when he let's it go. Perfect punch every time. He is just asking to be knocked out when he's moving in with that chin up though. It's going to happen, just a question of when.

1st time I've seen him but will be looking out for him again. Have a feeling the big names might avoid him.

Can't believe the ref allowed that to continue while he was breakdancing around the ring after the 1st Knockdown (Pitalua fight).

Someone is going to beat Valero one day, but I'm not sure who.
He's an absolutely murderous puncher, and he can take a shot too.
Watch the first 3 rounds of his title winning effort against the incredibly brave champ Vincente Mosquera - Valero is stunned twice in the 1st and floored in the 3rd, and still manages to hurt and floor Mosquera 3 or 4 times in return. They continue to batter each other for 10 rounds until Valero grinds him down. An amazing fight.
I'm not surprised Mosquera hasn't fought again - he puts in an almost superhuman effort, and still gets beat.

Trouble is for most fighters, you might hurt and try to finish off the Venezuelan banger, but he'll almost kill you for your troubles.

About the only fighter I'd favour over him is Guzman, just about. But that's a tricky one, as it would involve Guzman actually having to fight, for a change.

He could turn out to be another Ricardo Torres - Torres had Cotto in lots of trouble in their fight but ultimately he was beaten and I suspect Pacman will do the same to Valero, then the myth will be broken.
He could do with Roach as his trainer to tighten him up defensively. Valero thinks he's bullet proof at the moment so he won't change trainers until he's beaten as is the way it always seems to go.

I'll jump on the Valero train once he fights a slick puncher and soundly beats him.

Bloody hell, Frank is really looking to push the boat out these days...not an ideal match up for his brittle chinned star you'd think, but it shows just how tough the 135 division is these days, when Warren sees Valero as the easiest route to the top.
I guess he must have been attracted to the way Valero hangs his chin out to dry.

Valero's defence is awful, he'll lose to the first elite and skilled enough lightweight.

Isn't he only licensed to box in Texas too because of his brain injury?

He doesnt rely on his defense though he just attacks but i agree an elite boxer would outbox him and i think he's just recently got his licence back to fight anywhere again not sure though

He's already above a fighter like Torres, given that he stopped a good champion in Mosquera.

But a lot about Valero is hype and mystique. He's done relatively little given his reputation as a lethal puncher.

I would like to see Valero fight like he did in those Morales sparring videos from a few years back. He looked a lot more accomplished than he does in these quick victories.

That's right. He can or could box very neatly but apparently while he's been based in Japan he's been pretty much training himself and has come to rely on speed & power and nothing else. I was shocked watching this fight at the total lack of head and upper body movement and i thought the other guy might be able to make him pay.
Maybe his skills will re-emerge in time for when he requires them.

I think him against Marquez would be fascinating. Juan Manuel should box circles round him but his chin isn't granite, he gets hits more often than he used to and he would be at a speed disadvantage.

Khan vs valero. warren would not dare put khan in the ring with this guy. this guy punches hard. warren will prob give khan an easy route like winning a WBO.

I love Valero. Worst tattoo in boxing though.....
