if khan wins this WBA title

his number 1 challenger is victor ortiz

how long will warren make khan avoid this guy???

please note i say warren , khan will want the fight - ive never been a khan fan as i think hes hype , i still think hes running away from certain lightweight eg: prescott and vaelero

but i give him credit for taking big fights now

i have never seen kotelik (spelling)?? fight but hopefully will on youtube etc , khans chin is always a worry so moving up in weight is dangerous.

ortiz though will ko khan , ive seen him fight lol

ps: wonder if juan marquez will also be ranked high by the WBA if he moves up to 140??

Plus he holds a psychological edge over Ortiz. Didn't work for Taylor against Pavlik, mind.

look as mentioned it might not be khan

if he wanted to fight prescott then a rematch would have taken place by now

khan would fight them tomorrow, he is stupidly brave.
Agree.

But it better than running from challeneges.

Khan has the Lennox/Haye?Froch mentality but is too fragile to back it up.

:D

valero has something that scares khan and warren....a punch

khan has been fighting smaller guys his whole career except 1 guy prescott

look what happened

add to the fact that khan has no chance vs valero and marquez at lightweight , thats why hes moving up

valero and marquez hold the wbc wba and wbo title , that only leaves the ibf

moving up was the only option for warren , its a very smart move

I heard that it wasn't a KO. Khan was so far ahead on points that it was stopped.

As I wrote on another thread, the WBO lightweight title will undoubtedly soon become vacant, i.e. when JMM moves up to challenge the Pac-Hatton winner. With his no. 1 ranking with the WBO, Amir could fight for the vacant title - and would probably not have to face one of the murderers' row that constitutes the current top 10 at 135. Alex Arthur could have been a likely candidate for the role, especially as he was (supposedly) promised a shot at the winner of Khan-MAB.

If Khan wins cue the biggest grossing fight in British history against Hatton.

Forever.

Ortiz is a big lightwelter and will probably be a natural welter in a couple of years, oh and he's better and bigger than Prescott, Ortiz wins by first round KO.

Yeah, Ortiz is huuuuuge. He gained 14 lbs over night for his fight in December.

I think the general consensus isn't that Khan is avoiding "someone"; more that he is avoiding a significant number of fighters in the weight division he has long campaigned in and where he wanted to be champ. It also makes a re-match with MAB improbable, if not impossible and, IMO, reinforces the case for their fight to be ruled a no-contest.

I can see this, maybe not right away but Hatton's final cashing out/retirement fight.

A comprehensive defeat against Manny would bring it nearer I guess, and there would be the Roach link, "Like Barerra I beat Hatton with Manny, now watch me do it with Khan again" etc etc

Well put. You are 100% correct IMO.

Too be fair I don't think the Kotelnik fight would be easy either, he may be rather robotic but he's tough and keeps coming forward and walked through enough of Junior Witters bombs so it's not as if he's a soft touch.

This is pathetic. Khan is 22 and is boxing for a WBA title, stepping up a division to do it. And people say he is avoiding people.

Personally, I think he has always ducked Wladimir.

Kotelnik is very tough. He took everything Maidana had. The good thing is that Kotelnik has a poor work rate and looks a bit worn now, so Khan has a good chance of winning on points. I do wonder about Khan's chin though, as always.

You don't know that. As I said, he's 22. What if by the end of next year he had beaten Campbell and Bradley. The reality is if he had faced Bradley or Urango, people would say the same thing. And that is all the world champions.

The ONLY Light Welterweight World Champion is Ricky Hatton.

What's truly pathetic is your attempt to be Khan's chief apologist on these boards; you are defending the indefensible and your act is wearing thin. Let's have a straight answer from you. Has he or has he not stated on many occasions that he wants to win a world title or titles at 135? And why is he moving to 140 without first achieving that goal?

I doubt Khan is avoiding anyone. He's in the hands of a very experienced management team. When people say Khan they really mean 'Team Khan'.

Yeah hes never been beaten at 140, hes the Ring Champ, hes beaten all comers. I agree, living off the Tszyu win does constitute him being the ONLY LWW champ.
