The Real World Champions

Let's forget about the alphabets for a moment and create our own list, or lists, of who the real World champions are (no vacancies!). Here's a starting point:

Heavyweight - Wladimir Klitschko
Cruiserweight - Tomasz Adamek
Light Heavyweight - Chad Dawson
Super Middleweight - Mikkel Kessler
Middleweight - Kelly Pavlik
Light Middleweight - Paul Williams
Welterweight - Shane Mosley
Light Welterweight - Ricky Hatton
Lightweight - Juan Manuel Marquez
Super Featherweight - Humberto Soto
Featherweight - Chris John
Super Bantamweight - Israel Vazquez
Bantamweight - Hozumi Hasegawa
Super Flyweight - Vic Darchinyan
Flyweight - Nonito Donaire
Light Flyweight - Ivan Calderon
Minimumweight - Roman Gonzalez

I don't really know much about the lowest weights. Since Manny Pacquiao fought at welterweight last and hasn't yet fought at light welter, I've got him floating around divisionless. He's fighting next month so it's not a problem.

Bradley takes over at Lt Welter.

He beat a live one in Witter and Holt.

Hatton veat KT 109 years ago and has done what since? Beat PM?

Don't just question it. Offer a new boxer and say why. I can only assume you think Chad Dawson should take the reigns, perhaps because Hopkins lost to Calzaghe. Fair enough, but put a bit of effort into it. :TU:

hahaha, ok. well i dont know, i think its vacant isn't it. it is in my book. hopkins lost it and no-one has fought for it since. maybe dawson-tarver. but i dont think hopkins win over pavlik should make him lineal lhw champion.
This topic has nothing to do with the flawed lineal championship. I'm simply asking, who do you regard as the champion in each division? There are no vacancies.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the current method is to look at The Ring's ratings: http://www.ringtv.com/ratings/ (bottom-right it says "CURRENT TITLEHOLDERS").

Basically it is just traced back to the days when there was only one champ per division, so you can follow the path by seeing who was the man who beat the man, who beat the man........

And i think where a champion vacates or changes divisions the linear title is vacant until the number 1 and 2 in that division meet.

I've amended the original post to make it more obvious that I'm calling for full lists, not lists with vacancies. Basically, if you had to name a champion for each division, who would it be?

Which most recently happened when Adamek and Cunningham fought. :TU:

The only ones from you list that I think could possibly be challenged are
Vitali instad of Wladimir
Dawson instead of Hopkins
Cotto instead of Mosley
and I'm not sure who is best at Light Middle, I like Martinez or perhaps the winner of Kirkland Dzinziruk, I don't personally think Forrest has doen a great deal of late to deserve it.

Bar those I don't you could really argue with the other 'champions'.

I wouldn't say that the Ring champions are always the lineal champions.

Cyberboxingzone's list of lineal champions is more accurate, although they don't often update their site.

Heavyweight - Wladimir Klitschko
Cruiserweight - Tomasz Adamek
Light Heavy - Bernard Hopkins
Super Middle - Mikkel Kessler
Middleweight - Kelly Pavlik
Light Middle - Paul Williams
Welterweight - Sugar Shane Mosley
Light Welter - Ricky Hatton
Lightweight - Juan Manuel Marquez
Super feather - Humberto Soto
Featherweight - Chris John
Super Bantam - Israel Vasquez
Bantamweight - Hozumi Hasegawa
Super Fly - Vic Darchinyan
Flyweight - Nonito Donaire
Light Fly - Ivan Calderon
Minimumweight - Roman Gonzalez

Probably pretty simlar to most of the others. I must admit i'm not as clued up about the bottom couple of divisions and had to consult the rankings to see who had the best record on paper. And i think Pac man is the only big omission, but he's been all over the weights in recent fights so its impossible to pin him down. Beating Hatton will put him top of the LWW's.

ah okay... well my edits then

Super Middle - mmm tough one, I'd be tempted to go for Bute cause he a champion when Kessler fought Joe - so Kessler lost and Bute remained a "champion".

Lightweight - Marquez

Super Feather - Soto.

Bantam - Montiel.

Minimum - Sorry, couldn't answer.

I was sort of thinking that , but when the champ vacates who rates the 1 and 2 . The ring?
