- Police estimated 135,000 fans turned out to see this outdoor free show. Thousands of delegates to the national convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, in session here, were among those in attendance at the affair, arranged for their benefit by the Pabst Brewing Company, a Milwaukee brewery.
- According to the August 17 New York Times, the attendance was "believed to be the largest in boxing history...." The previous largest crowd was the 120,000 who attended the 1926 Jack Dempsey vs. Gene Tunney (1st meeting) bout.
- Pryor put up considerable opposition but Zale floored him several times before knocking him out.
