Jermaine Franklin 245 lbs beat Rydell Booker 239 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Jermaine Franklin versus Rydell Booker Heavyweight Bout

Michigan heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin appeared to win the last seven rounds of the 10 rounder, and the bout, outworking veteran Rydell Booker. It was the first time Booker went 10 rounds or more since his 12 round loss to James Toney 15 years ago in an IBA World Heavyweight title bout. Booker, the former number one ranked amateur in the united States, lost more than a decade in prison before release, winning three comeback bouts of six rounds duration. Booker fought Franklin Jimmy Young style as a countepuncher. Booker was never hurt by Franklin, but never initiated any aggressive exchanges. Booker appeared to win the second and third rounds, and landed some good counters occasionally. Franklin was warned twice for spitting out the mouthpiece by referee Albert Earl Brown. Scoring appeared neutral and fair.
