Vasyl Lomachenko (born February 17, 1988) is a Ukrainian former amateur boxer who won the Featherweight Olympic Gold medal and was awarded the prestigious Val Barker Trophy for the most 'outstanding boxer' at the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing, China.
Vasyl went on to win the gold medal at the 2009 World Amateur Championships where he only conceded 7 points in the whole tournament. In the same year, Lomachenko also won the gold medal in the European Amateur Championships.
In 2011, Lomachenko moved up to the lightweight division where he captured the gold medal at the World Amateur Championships. In 2012, he won the Olympic Gold medal at the Olympic Games in London, England.

He had finished his amateur career with a career record of 396-1, with his only loss avenged twice. (during the final of the 2007 World Amateur Championships against Albert Selimov) was avenged twice - once in the 2008 Olympics and again in the World Series of Boxing tournament.

Former Olympic gold medalist Istvan Kovacs said of Lomachenko, “Thank God there was no Lomachenko in my division at the time, I never saw a fighter like him before.”

After winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, Lomachenko entered the World Series of Boxing 2012/2013 as a lightweight representing the Ukraine Ottomans, where he amassed a record of 6-0 in 5-round bouts where he scored knockdowns on most of his opponents.

In August 2013, Lomachenko turned professional after signing for Top Rank and is scheduled to debut against Johnathan Oquendo (23-3) in an 8-round contest for the WBO International Featherweight Championship.

<br clear=all>
Amateur career
In 2004 he became the Junior flyweight European U-17 champion, in 2006 he won the Junior World Championships, where he beat future Bantamweight World Champion and fellow southpaw Sergey Vodopyanov.

Next year at the (seniors) World Championships 2007 in Chicago he won the silver medal in the Featherweight class, and qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. In the first round, he drew Albert Selimov, the man who defeated him in the World Amateur Championships. However, Lomachenko was able to avenge the loss.

Guillermo Rigondeaux is a former Cuban amateur boxer who captured the Olympic Gold Medal at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games in the Bantamweight (54 kg) class. Rigondeaux is a seven-time (2000-06) Cuban national champion at bantamweight and a two-time amateur world champion. He claims an amateur record of nearly 400 fights with twelve losses -- with his last losses coming to Rencise Perez and Bekzat Sattarkhanov in 1998, Waldemar Font in 1999, and his most recent loss against Agasi Mamedov in 2003.

On July 22, 2007, Rigondeaux and teammate Erislandy Lara failed to appear for their scheduled bouts at the Pan American Games in Brazil. It was initially announced that Rigondeaux was to turn professional, joining fellow 2004 Cuban Olympians Odlanier Solis, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy, who defected earlier in 2007. As with the other Cuban defectors, Rigondeaux signed a promotional deal with Ahmet Oener and ARENA Box-Promotion. However on August 2nd, Rigondeaux and Lara were taken into police custody in Brazil, stating that they wanted to return home to Cuba. Then Cuban leader Fidel Castro stated that Rigondeaux and Lara will not box again for the Cuban team. In February 2009, Rigondeaux defected again via Mexico City to Miami, and signed with ARENA Box.

Trainer Freddie Roach said of Rigondeaux 'He's probably the greatest talent I've ever seen'.

In only his seventh professional bout, Rigondeaux won the WBA Interim World Super Bantamweight title defeating Ricardo Cordoba by split decision. In his ninth bout Rigondeaux captured the full WBA World title by knocking out Rico Ramos with a body shot in round six.
