The name of this boxer is incorrect. His name was Robert 'Ginger' Stewart (My father)born 14th June 1920 in Hamilton. His younger brother was also a boxer called George Stewart and he is also listed in the encyclopedia.

There are many press articles about my father, one in particular springs to mind that was in the Hamilton Advertiser (21/12/1946) It details Ginger beating Tommy Amour in ulster on 16/12/1946 he then flew straight to London and fought the dutch fighter Giel De Roode losing on points.

My father had eight children and lived in Blackpool England (married three times). He unfortunately was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1989 and died on 20th October 1990 aged 70 years with all his family around him.

Yvonne Johnson (nee Stewart), Blackpool, England
