Neal was shot and killed along with another man he had been fighting with in the parking lot of Kansas City community center. Surveillance video showed that a 17yr old male, that had been videotaping the fight, picked up a gun that had fallen to the ground during the fight, and shot both men as they were fighting on the ground.

*Santillan died one day after sustaining injuries in a draw against Uruguay's Eduardo Javier Abreu. The fight was held in Buenos Aires and was for the WBC Latino Silver Light Title. Santillan fainted as the result of the fight was being announced. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he lapsed into a coma after undergoing emergency surgery. He died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate Whitaker by performing CPR, but were unsuccessful. The driver of vehicle did remain on the scene to speak to police.
