Professional Career
Paul "The Punisher" Williams began his professional career on July 21, 2000 at 156 lbs. against Jeremy Mickelson (0-1) winning by decision. He followed this win with 13 consecutive victories by knockout. On April 22, 2005, Williams scored a unanimous decision victory over the former-NABF and NABA Light Welterweight Champion and Olympic bronze medalist Terrance Cauthen (26-2) 7 KOs. On April 12, 2006 Williams appeared on ESPN Wednesday Night Fights and earned his first professional title, the WBC USNBC Welterweight Title, by knocking out Sergio Rios (18-2) 16 KOs in the 2nd Round. A little over a month later, he defended this title against the then undefeated Walter Dario Matthysse (25-0) 24 KOs and scored a technical knockout in Round 10. With this win, Williams also claimed the vacant WBO NABO Welterweight Title. He returned to the ring in August of 2006 and defended his two titles against the former-World Champion Welterweight Sharmba Mitchell (57-5) 30 KOs. Three knockdowns and a 4th Round technical knockout extended Williams's unbeaten streak to 31 and ended the career of Mitchell. On July 14, 2007 Williams got his first shot at a world title against the relentless Antonio Margarito (34-4) 24 KOs. A unanimous decision victory scored Williams the WBO Welterweight Title and made him officially a world champion. In his first defense of this title, however, Williams suffered the first loss of his professional career via an upset unanimous decision against Carlos Quintana (24-1) 19 KOs. Demanding a rematch, just four months later Williams defeated Quintana via a 1st Round stoppage. Failing to secure another headline fight at welterweight, Williams eventually vacated the world title for a bigger name bout at junior middleweight. On Nov. 11, 2008, Williams, despite suffering a tremendous cut over his right eye, fought and defeated another former World Champion in Verno Phillips (42-10-1) 21 KOs via an 8th Round stoppage. For this victory Williams was recognized as the interim-WBO Junior Middleweight Champion. Fighting as part of the main event on HBO World Championship Boxing Williams defeated his 5th former-World Champion by punishing and outworking Ronald (Winky) Wright en route to a near landslide unanimous decision victory. This victory pushed Williams's record to (37-1) 27 KOs.
Career
Quillin whose father is Cuban and who grew up in Grand Rapids calls himself "Kid Chocolate" after his famous role model. He only has 8 amateur fights to his credit. The tall aggressive Quillin turned pro in New York and signed with Cedric Kushner and had most of his fights on television flaunting one-punch knockout power in either hands that build him a huge following despite his average opposition and lack of amateur pedigree.

In April 2008, Quillin dominated former contender Antwun Echols.

On June 11, 2008, Quillin defeated Dionisio Miranda by unanimous decision at the Hard rock in New York City. Quillin won most of the early rounds of the fight and appeared to be cruising along in the seventh round, when Miranda hurt Quillin with a powerful left-right combination that sent Quillin retreating to the ropes, where Miranda unloaded on Quillin with 14 consecutive unanswered punches. However, Miranda soon punched himself out, which allowed a badly shaken Quillin to survive the round. Quillin would recover well in the eight round, and fight effectively in the last two rounds of the fight. The final judges scores were 97-92, 97-92 and 97-93.
*Contestant on the NBC boxing reality television show The Contender.

Ishe Oluwa Buni kula shane Kamau Ali "Sugar Shay" Smith (b. July 22, 1978, Las Vegas) is a professional boxer, and was a competitor on the first season of the reality TV show The Contender.

Personal life

A devoted Christian, Ishe and his wife LaToya, have been compared to Rocky and his wife Adrian. They have one son. Smith was declared bankrupt after run-ins with certain agents and managers, but has come back with the teetotal religious zeal that saw him unbeaten in his first four years as a professional. He wears Psalm 27 (Psalms 27 ) on the back of his shorts. "ishe oluwa" in the Yoruba language means "gods work".

The Smith family was joined by the youngest member of the family Ajani Smith, a boy, when Latoya Smith gave birth on February 2, 2006.

Boxing career

Smith's career highlight may be taking three minor vacant titles in one fight; the vacant WBC Continental Americas Welterweight title, the vacant USBA Welterweight title and the vacant WBO NABO Welterweight title.

The Contender

He beat Alfonso Gomez in 2001, and the two became roommates when they were contestants on reality TV show The Contender. On the show, he was placed on the West Coast team and fought his rival Ahmed Khaddour in the third episode's fight, a bout which was steel-tipped by the pair's frosty relationship. Smith also did not enamour himself to Anthony Bonsante, who he criticised for fighting someone he wasn't meant to - despite the bout having no bearing on Smith's standing in the competition.

When Juan de la Rosa was medically disqualified at the end of the first round fight, certain other boxers bought back Khaddour, a tactic employed to get under Smith's skin. After Brinkley criticised him for speaking his mind too often and being intimidated by him, Brinkley selected him to fight Sergio Mora, the tournament's eventual winner - which he lost to by split decision. He then faced his nemesis Bonsante in a Fans Favourite Fight, and despite suffering illegal moves, won a unanimous decision.

Post Contender

Since The Contender, he has criticized the show's management company for trying to force him to fight Jesse Brinkley at a severe weight disadvantage for a relatively small fight purse. A natural welterweight, Smith feels that he should be allowed to drop back down to a lower weight class and fight more rounds against opponents outside The Contender in preparation for an eventual title shot or be allowed out of the show's management contract as Contender contestants Ahmed Khaddour and Jimmy Lange, among others, have been.

Ishe Smith won his arbitration trial earlier this year and got out of the Contender promotions to sign a contract with Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. Ishe Smith has been under Bernard Hopkins' guidance since he joined Golden Boy Promotions. He had stated that he is very happy with the Golden Boy Promotions.

He was featured on a June 7 fight card promoted by Bernard Hopkins on ESPN Friday Night Fight, where he dominated his opponent Patrick Thompson through 10 rounds to get a unanimous decision. He fought at 154 lbs, in the junior middleweight division, which is considered a division with a ton of opportunities for young prospects at this time.

Smith fought Sechew Powell, a junior middleweight contender on February 17, 2007, and lost a unanimous decision, potentially halting his hopes of landing a title shot. Smith lost the fight despite scoring a knock down. After the decision was announced, many of Powell's own hometown fans booed the decision. The reason for the boos were because the judges gave Powell eight out of ten rounds and many viewers of the fight, both live and television, felt the fight was much closer and could have gone either way by one point.

On April 30th, Smith lost a unanimous decision to Joel Julio in British Columbia, Canada.

Ishe returned to the ring on August 1,2008,winning a unanimous decision over the previously undefeated Pawel Wolak.

Golden Boy Promotions

After Golden Boy Promotions signed numerous other fighters including many former and current champions, Ishe Smith had become idle because Golden Boy Promotions are holding cards to feature more known names than Ishe Smith. Smith was frustrated by this and made a statement saying that he is considering joining the UFC, because he is in a desperate need of a fight.
Raised without a father, Sergio lived in the apartment downstairs from the apartment where his mother lived. His boxing will, he hopes, lift him and his family to a better standard of living. Sergio is eloquent and thoughtful, quite against the stereotype of the ghetto he admits to coming from.

Boxing career

He is the champion of reality TV show The Contender, initially being a member of the West Coast Team. He fought Najai Turpin in the first round, the boxer who later committed suicide. In the Quarter Finals he was put up against the favorite Ishe Smith, beating him to reach the Semi Finals. He fought against Jesse Brinkley in the Semi-Final and defeated him after seven rounds, earning a place to box against Peter Manfredo in the final. In the final fight Sergio defeated Manfredo in a seven round unanimous decision to become the Contender champion. He defeated Manfredo by a split decision in a rematch. Many ringside observers felt Manfredo won the fight convincingly, but Mora won by a controversial split decision.

Months later he beat Archak Ter-Meliksetian (15-3) by TKO in the 7th of 10 rounds.

Mora fought the IBA Title holder Eric Regan (26-2) on August 25, 2006, at the Arco Arena in Sacramento CA. Mora won by unanimous decision after 10 rounds.

Rumors are that Mora was to fight WBC/WBO middleweight title holder Jermain Taylor in Spring 2007. However, on March 15, 2007, Mora refused a seven figure fight against Taylor that would have taken place in Memphis, which Mora felt was too close to Taylor's home of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Sergio was to fight Kassim Ouma (25-3-1 15 KOs) in a middleweight bout on September 15, 2007. It was to be televised on HBO as one of the undercard bouts supporting the main event, (Juan Manuel Marquez v. Jorge Rodrigo Barrios). However, the event was canceled and it left observers wondering why Mora again avoided fighting a top name opponent. He fought Elvin Ayala on October 16, 2007, at The Home Depot Center. The 10-round fight ended in a draw.

On January 11, 2008, Sergio Mora stopped Rito Ruvalcaba in the sixth round of their scheduled 10-round middleweight fight at the Casino Morongo. Mora was behind on two of three judges' scorecards entering the sixth round. He hurt Ruvalcaba with a combination, drove him to the ropes and landed another left hand, at which point the referee stopped the fight. But Ruvalcaba was still punching at the time of the stoppage, leading to some controversy.

On June 7, 2008, Mora defeated Vernon Forrest via a 12 round majority decision to become the WBC Super welterweight champion. In the build-up to the fight, Forrest threatened to send Mora "out on a stretcher" and referred to him as the "pretender". However, Mora succeeded in pulling off the upset victory.

Forrest took an early lead in what began as a tactical bout, working behind a left jab and landing right hands. Mora started to force his way into the fight in the fourth round, throwing hard punches to Forrest's body and consistently outworking the defending champion. The final scores were 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112 in favor of Mora.

Vernon Forrest (41-3) reclaimed his WBC 154-pound title on September 14, 2008, against Sergio Mora via unanimous decision. Forrest scored a knock down in round seven, had Mora in trouble in round nine and on his back foot for a majority of the bout.
<br clear=all>

Peter Manfredo Sr. decided, in September of 2000, it was time for his son to step into the ring for the first time as a professional, after having a stellar amateur career of 154 wins and fewer than 30 losses. Peter Manfredo Jr, perhaps best-known as a contestant on the NBC boxing reality television show The Contender, was to be promoted by Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment & Sports. He scored four knockdowns in his debut as a middleweight and went on to win a lopsided decision over fellow prospect Steve Garrett. After five pro fights, Manfredo got a taste of the big time as he fought his in first nationally televised bout in August of 2001 on ESPN2's ESPN Friday Night Fights. The scheduled six-rounder against Rhon Roberts (8-2, of Guyana) was reduced to four in order to accommodate ESPN. The two round decrease proved to be a blessing in disguise for Manfredo, considering that he had expended a ton of nervous energy in the dressing room before-hand. However, he went on to dominate Roberts and garnered a unanimous decision victory.

After another unanimous decision win, Manfredo (8-0, 4 KOs), was beginning to make some noise as a New England Middleweight prospect. An opportunity arose for Manfredo to fight again on an ESPN2 Friday Night Fights show promoted by Sugar Ray Leonard, at Foxwoods Casino in CT. He took the fight on a few days notice after a CES stablemate pulled off the card due to an injury. The fight was the second time Manfredo had fought on ESPN2 but, unfortunately, the contract weight was higher than what he had previously fought at. His opponent was slick, awkward southpaw Ian "The Truth" Gardener. The Canadian, who had a record of 2-0, and was 6' 1", gave the 5' 9" Manfredo trouble with his continuous slapping and holding. Manfredo would eke out a split decision victory, hence the only fight that he has failed to dominate in his 14 bouts to that date as a pro.

After a knockout victory over Kenny Stubbs, a tough veteran from the Bahamas, Manfredo had an unblemished record of 10-0 (5 KOs). Following the win over Stubbs, Manfredo made a decision that seems to have propelled his career to new heights. Sitting on his stool in his dressing room, he proclaimed that this fight would be the last that he would be weighing-in over 160 lbs. His last three fights had been against fighters who stood 6'1 or 6'2 and Manfredo knew that a change had to be made.

True to his words, Manfredo put his unbeaten record on the line against former title challenger John "Lennox" Lewis, 10-5-1, of Trinidad and Tobago. The fight took place at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT, and was part of another ESPN2 card promoted by Jimmy Burchfield. The scheduled six-rounder was again shortened by two rounds. This time it was because of a curfew for the fight card that had been laid down by the casino. The change didn't seem to bother Manfredo, as he unleashed a brutal body attack that had Lewis hurt on numerous occasions. Despite not being able to drop his opponent, Manfredo won a unanimous decision.

After the win over Lewis, he started his downward spiral toward the Junior Middleweight class. His next fight was to be on the undercard of the world title bout between Vinny Paz and Eric Lucas. Manfredo took on tough South Boston veteran Tommy Attardo, 9-6-1. The bout was part of the televised undercard and proved to be Manfredo's best performance to date. After weighing in at a career low 155 lbs, he used his superior hand and foot speed to overmatch Attardo. After dropping his opponent once, he went on to win a lopsided decision. Manfredo was so impressive that night it prompted representatives from Main Events to invite him to train with Junior Middleweight World Champ "Ferocious" Fernando Vargas in Big Bear, CA, as he prepared for his May title fight with Oscar De La Hoya. He sparred six times with Vargas over a two week span, gaining invaluable experience from being in the ring with a world class fighter.

Manfredo, then 12-0 (5 KOs), took another step up in his next fight at Foxwoods Casino. The fight was televised by NESN and was against Grady Brewer, 10-3 (7 KOs), from Lawton, Oklahoma. Brewer was the Texas Miller Lite Champion, but on this night he was outclassed by the younger Manfredo. There were no knockdowns in the fight but plenty of action. Manfredo won a unanimous decision while going eight rounds for the first time in his career.

With a record of 13-0, Manfredo was ready for his first title bout. The vacant Eastern Boxing Association Title would be on the line in a 10-round bout at the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston, RI. His opponent would be the tough veteran from Baltimore, MD, Mike McFail, 11-9 (3 KOs), who came into the fight with the idea of taking the EBA belt back to the D.C. area. Manfredo had other plans, as he landed a straight right hand on McFail's chin in the first round that sent him to the canvas. McFail would get up but only to absorb a thorough beating until the referee mercifully put a halt to the bout in the eighth round.

* Stripped of the IBU Light Middleweight Title March 31, 2003, for failure to defend.
