When creating a fight page, remember to add the [[Help:Contents|"fight code"]] at the very top.
The fight code is the fight number (which you can see at the top of any fight page) contained within "fight" code tags, like this: <nowiki><fight>12345</fight></nowiki><br>

The fight code will automatically insert the names of the boxers, result, location, and date. You can then add other text and images. You can get other instructions and help [[Help:Contents|here]]. Try inserting the fight code in this [[Fight:723241|fight page]] you edited. --[[User:Ric|Ric]] 10:05, 22 August 2006 (CDT)
== Objectivity ==

Hi, when describing a fight stick to the facts. Opinionated pieces like the one you did on the Brahmer vs. Velasco will be deleted. If there's a place for it all here, it's on the 'Talk' section of a Wiki-page. --[[User:Wouter|Wouter]] 07:00, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

== Fight Page Commentary ==

Conan, this is an on-line encyclopedia. Read any other on-line or hard-copy encyclopedia, and you will not find subjective statements such as you created: "Hi, this is my take. Etc." As Wouter stated, stick to the facts for the page itself. But feel free to add your personal "color commentary" in the "Talk/Discussion" section of the fight page. Your comments are very much welcome there. --[[User:Ric|Ric]] 11:15, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

== Fight page commentary response ==
Thanks for your answer. Here's my response. Encyclopedia's are interesting, these fight reports are not. Information is easy to find in an encylopedia, the fight reports are not. Encyclopedia's also contain subjective opinion, that's why they have editors. If you are determined to have an absolute barron piece of information as your encyclopedia entry, then you should reconsider whether a) whether boxrec should link directly to the Talk/Discussion page or b) whether the fight description page should have an embedded link to the Talk/Discussion page so that the fight fan can easily get to the info they are most likely looking for.

== What a boring and useless place you're making the fight pages into ==

Honestly, what a waste of time this place is. Reducing fight commentary down to the facts makes this a useless resource. You could have the most exciting fight of the year and not have a single comment on it because
a) there were no knockdowns
b) no points deducted
c) even the word 'exciting' is colouring the fight and purely subjective and
d) the PPV numbers are unknown.
If you follow these principles then every Butterbean fight would have more commentary than an epic Barrera vs Morales war.

Sure you can bury the fight commentary down in the 'talk' page, but who's going to find it. The link is from boxrec, and it links to the main page. And what are they going to find as a comment, if they want more info on the fight, N-O-T-H-I-N-G. (And BTW for the next user, give him a break and call it the 'Discussion' page, because thats how its labelled).

Boxing is opinionated. This should be reflected in the descriptions. This database would be better served as a loose collection of fight reviews than an punctuation freak's paradise. I cant believe the editting/punctuation tip at the beginning. Damm, if I want info about a fight, I should be able to find it easily and I dont give a shit if I got my commas before the closing quotes or not.

<fight> 1188223 </fight>

Hi,

this is my take on the fight. It was the best Super Middle fight I've seen in years. All action, ebb and flow, high drama, big punches, great stuff.

Braehmer came out strong and took the first two rounds easy. Braehmer, was once touted as a "Boxer of the century", but it didnt look like it in the third. Velasco started walking thru him and getting bridging the gap nicely to land some bombs. Round to Velasco. Braehmer motored up in round four and took that in my book. Round five saw Velasco succeeding as he did in the third and he laid the harder punches. At this stage 48-47 for Braehmer in my book, but you could possibly score it higher for Braehmer.

Round 6 was pretty even till Velasco landed a straight right flush in Braehmers face. Braehmer absorbed the punch well, but half a second later when he went to retaliate with a right hook, he just collapsed and fell over his own feet like a complete drunk. It was a kind of delayed knock down. Braehmer was up at two and Velasco chased him around the ring and landed a few more good punches on Braehmer. Brahmer made it out of the round due to some very skilful rolling shoulder defence on the ropes. A 10-8 for Velasco, so 56-57 for Velasco in my book. Unbelievably, the English judge scored the round only 10-9 for Velasco, a disgrace.

Round 7 was spectacular. Braehmer gave up all intentions of boxing and judge went back to what he was good at, throwing bombs. He and Velasco went for it toe to toe with Braehmer getting the best of it. A great come back round after the knock down. More of the same in round 8, with Braehmer practically closing Velasco's left eye. At this stage Braehmer 76-75 in my book.

Round 9 and Braehmer took his foot of the gas after two busy rounds. Velasco used his chance and upped the work rate despite an ugly swelling eye. Velasco takes the round narrowly in my book, although Braehmer landed some bombs. Round 10 and 11 and Braehmer just stopped throwing punches. He seemed to be stalking Velasco with menace, looking to get the big punch off, but would just not throw. Velasco on the other hand was showing great legs. Bouncing all round the ring and then suddenly darting in to land some good solid punches on Braehmer. Round 9 was close, but round 10 and 11 went to Velasco clearly in my book. At this stage 103-105 Velasco.

Round 12 was the perfect end to the fight. Both boxers looked in good shape and threw tonnes of leather at each other with Braehmer getting the better of it. Velasco looked hurt at the end of the round and was reduced to clinching right at the end. Braehmers round, though it wasnt completely one sided. That made it 113-114 for Valesco in my book. In other words, six rounds each and one point advantage for the ko-round. Braehmers corner was pretty confident going into the twelth, they must have had an eye on the scorecards, because the fight was damm close in the spectators eyes.

The scores were announced. UD for Braehmer 115-112 twice and 117-111. You could understand the 115-112, that was 8 rounds to 4 for Braehmer, there were a couple of close rounds in there. But to score it 9 rounds to 3 and not credit the knock down, that was just a disgrace.

After the German crowd of about 5000 heard the result, they booed non-stop for five minutes. Braehmer was a bit incredulous, as he thought he fought a brave fight, which he did. But the German crowd didnt care, they only wanted Velasco on the mike. When it was finally Velasco's turn to speak, the crowd cheered him loudly, making him feel like a winner for a while. When asked to compare Abraham, Sturm and Braehmer, Velasco said that Abraham was the most difficult fighter and hit the hardest. Unlike the poster above claimed, Braehmer said nothing about Calzaghe. Personally, I think unless Braehmer sticks with what he knows best i.e. bombing away, he's going nowhere higher in this division.
