&lt;div&gt;Ernie Bignay was a top prospect for the Canadian title in the junior welterweight class  during the 1970-72 period.After losing  his first match to Eddie Phalen he ran of eleven straight victories including a victory over Phalen.He registered wins over  experienced fighters like Jo Jo Jacson and Barry Sponagle who went on to challenge for Canadian titles.One victory not appearing on his record was a 6th round ko over Leo Noel in Moncton N.B. on Sept. 21st 1971.He finished his career in 1973 with a 12-6 -0 record and scored 5 kos.&lt;br /&gt;
Bignay went to Teacher&#039;s College in 1970 and in 1973 became a successful Industrial Arts teacher . He married Barbara Beswick and had four children. Now retired, from teaching,Ernie, lives in Fall River Nova Scotia and follows the fight game with interest.He is an accredited offical with the Nova Scotia  Boxing Authority.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
