* Tarver entered as the #6 cruiserweight contender in the world according to The Ring Magazine. Kayode, a 3/1 betting underdog, was ranked #8 by the same publication.
Antonio Tarver 'No Contest' Steroid Controversy
* On June 22, 2012, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) announced Tarver's prefight urinalysis tested positive for the steroid Drostalolone (Maseron). According to RingTV, Antonio Tarver's draw with Kayode was ruled a 'No Contest'. Tarver, the 43 year old IBO Cruiserweight Champion, was fined $2,500 USD. In addition, Tarver, who earned a handsome $1.1 Million USD for the bout, was suspended. Drostanolone is a steroid created to fight certain forms of breast cancer, but it is also used as an ancillary drug to combat estrogenic side effects caused by other or mass-building steroids such as water-retention. Tarver stated the result was a false positive, and appealed the CSAC ruling which changed the fight result, and caused his suspension and fine. The IBO title remained in Tarver's hands until Tarver's appeal was heard, in a situation similar to Chad Dawson versus Bernard Hopkins I. The IBO world cruiserweight title then went vacant, and was regained by former IBO WOrld Cruiserweight champion Danny Green, who had previously lost the IBO belt to Tarver in Australia.

Bout Summary
"Tarver knocked Green down in the second and pummeled him again in the ninth. Green, clearly dazed, wobbled around the ring putting an arm around Tarver. Green's corner had seen enough and stopped the fight. Apart from a strong seventh round, Green was on the back foot for most of the fight. He was wobbled twice in the first and would have been knocked down on one of those occasions if the ropes hadn't held him up. There was no reprieve in the second as a cracking left sent him to the floor. Southpaw Tarver used his jab to control the fight and Green frequently found himself on the ropes, unable to mount any sustained pressure."

Laila Ali, daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, continued to build her own ring resume on Saturday with a fourth-round knockout of women's boxing pioneer Christy Martin.

Ali pounded Martin from the opening bell, and had her on her knees in the third round.

When Ali sent her to the canvas 48 seconds into the fourth, Martin was counted out.

Ali, 25, improved to 16-0 with 13 wins inside the distance and was congratulated in the ring by her famous father.

Martin, 35, fell to 45-3-2, with 30 wins inside the distance.

Ali had vowed to stop Martin inside five rounds, and she came out to make good on the prediction.

“I usually box but I had to jump on her,” Ali said. “I'm definitely stronger than her. Christy is tough, she's definitely tough, She cracked me, but she didn't hurt me.”
In all fairness weights need to be noted here. Martin comes in with added weight; however, her natural was welter and Jr.welter until this. This match up actually Super-middleweight with Ali +2 lbs over middleweight cut- off limits. (Three weight divisions jump here...)
*Grant was born in St.Ann, Jamaica, moved to Canada in 1977 at the age of 7 years old.
*He started boxing when he was 11. At the 1987 Pan Am Games won Silver, losing vs Cuban legend Angel Espinosa in finals. TAB rated him 2 Nd in the world at that time (165lbs)
*After his brother Howard Grant's return from the Seoul Olympics in 1988, they both decided to turn professional instead of taking part in the '92 Olympic Games.
*Driving back home to Montreal on Highway 15 on a summer's evening in June 1999, Otis, his then six-year-old daughter Alexandria and his buddy fellow boxer Hercules Kyvelos were involved in a serious auto accident. Kyvelos and Alexandria were not seriously hurt, but Otis took almost the full impact of the collision; Grant broke five ribs, punctured a lung and shattered his shoulder blade, and was in a coma for seven days. Doctors said he'd never fight again. But Grant surprised everybody by returning to the ring in 2003.
*Grant is the 1st black Quebecer who fought for a world boxing title.
*Grant - who has a Concordia University degree in recreation and leisure services, now manages the Grant Brothers Gym in the West Island on Montreal with his brother Howard, who also trained him.
*During his youth his friends and family started calling him "Magic" because of his admiration for NBA star Magic Johnson.
