&lt;div&gt;Jennifer McCartney is me.  I became a professional boxer in September of 1996.  During 1996, women boxers had just claimed their right to be considered professional atheletes.  New to this sport, I was thrown into the lime light by promoters that wanted to capitalize on the sudden burst of people that where drawn to watch this woman vs woman sport.  I fought my first fights in Kansas City and the surrounding towns, all to my dismay, it wasn&#039;t getting serious attention.  In 1998 I moved to San Diego, where I met the trainer that would teach me what boxing was all about.  Emilio became my Guru and my partner.  He made sure I was trained with other pro boxers.  He believed in me.  He made my boxing trip worth it!  More later&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
