2015-11-14: Steve Suppan wins over Teodor Stefanov on points (60-54) after 6 rounds
* Location: de Besturing, Den Haag, Netherlands
* Referee: Robert Verwijs 60-54

In the former factory "De Besturing" it's a tradition that the well known boxing club "Haagse Directe" from the Hague, organises a boxing event that after the last bout changes smoothly in a dance event. It's called Food Fight Music All Night and it's garanteed to have a lively atmosphere. This edition was no exception.

This bout was the last fight of the evening. Both boxers had a similar physique, showing good conditioning of their bodies. Teodor Stefanov was a bit shorter but made this up for being a bit more muscular than Steve Suppan. Both were the same age (21) but Stefanov had more pro fights under his belt. Having lost his last fights out of his country Bulgaria, he wasn't planning on doing so now.

The first round showed two cautious boxers, trying to measure each other. Suppan took the center of the ring and during most of the fight, he stayed there with the Bulgarian at the outside. There weren't many combinations, both boxers went for single shots, or one-two's. Suppan was the more active and Stefanov was lucky that a hard right only shaved his head.

In the second round Suppan threw a few overhand rights, but they didn't connect. He was the more dangerous man but Stefanov was able to move away most of the time, in the meantime looking for opportunities of his own. He couldn't get close to Suppan however and had to settle for a defensive role.

In the third round Suppan started with a nice liver shot but Stefanov was able to move away before more harm was done. He became more jumpy, he swinged a left hook and simultaniously jumped toward Suppan. The hook didn't connect and Stefanov continued his movement with a clinch. It was quite effective to smother Suppan and Stefanov made this move his trademark move for the rest of the rounds. Suppan was able to land his jab and some right hands and took this round. (as well as all the other rounds as the result showes)

The fourth and fith round were more or less the same. It was Suppan who was more active with Stefanov on the defense and with only his jump-hook-clinch as an offensive weapon. Suppan caught him with a good liver shot that hurt him. After another punch Stefanov fell to the floor but it was correctly ruled a slip. Both rounds clearly for Suppan.

In the sixt round, Stefanov tried to gain the upperhand and had more variation. It was a shortlived effort though as he was not able to unsettle Suppan. In the various exchanges of punches, it were the punches from Suppan that hit the target the most. Stefanov returned to his countering style but in this match Suppan was the better boxer.

After this final round, the referee declared Suppan winner on points and gave him all the rounds. The audience had the same opinion and applauded for both boxers of this final fight.

2015-10-12: Steve Suppan and Melvin Wassing fight ends in split decision draw after 6 rounds
* Location: Theater Carré, Amsterdam, Netherlands
* Referee: Gerard Stuifzand 57-57
* Judge: Mufadel Elghazaoui 58-57
* Judge: Robert Verwijs 57-58

This bout was part of the “Ben Bril Memorial”, the largest pro boxing event in The Netherlands. Once a year the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam is filled with boxing fans, knowing there will be good matches and a special atmosphere.

This fight was a clash of styles, the young boxer Steve Suppan (21) against the slightly older Melvin Wassing (24), who is originally a kick-boxer. With knock-out wins in his previous two pro fights, Suppan and his supporters expected again a stunning performance. Being sung into the ring by Dré Hazes, a well known Dutch singer, Suppan made an entrance showing lots of confidence. Credits must go to Wassing for he didn’t let all the attention for his opponent bring him out of his own concentration. Wassing wasn’t planning on playing by the script Suppan and his team had drawn up before. With 7 pro fights at his name, including knock-out wins and knock-out losses, he had the potential to stop or being stopped.

After the bell to start the first round, they both circled cautious around each other. The first punch was for Suppan, a sliding jab to the body. Suppan kept a keen eye on his opponent, looking for connecting shots. His left arm extended to keep Wassing at distance. Wassing wasn’t impressed and looked himself equally sharp. Suppan was fast in and out and could hit Wassing but Wassing was able to place some hits himself when he predicted Suppans movement correctly. Both fighters missed some hard hooks. Suppan was the one initiating the action but it was a close round.

In the second round Suppan started to put more pressure on Wassing. He looked so confident that he opened up his arms waving a bit at Wassing. He, as from the start, was not impressed and kept looking himself for openings. Clinches became more frequent. Suppan placed a good left hook to Wassings head but couldn’t put his weight behind it. They both exchanged combinations but neither could hurt the other. Then more or less suddenly with the last shot of a combination and already stepping away, Wassing caught Suppan with a heard right hook to the head. Suppan was visibly stunned and Wassing flew at him. Suppan literally held on. Most of Wassings punches were too wild and missed but this phase was proof of his stopping power. Suppan survived and in the end of the round he caught Wassing with some good punches but with less effect.

In the third round, both fighters showed more aggression. Suppan has a good overhead right that he was able to land on Wassings head followed by a long left hook. Wassing shook it off, taunting Suppan that he couldn’t hurt him. Suppan took the bait and let his hands down to show in return he wasn’t afraid either. It was a sign from him that Wassing was able to get under his skin. During this round Suppan landed more shots but Wassing was a constant threat. The danger of another stunning punch was constant present. When Suppan again caught Wassing with a good hook, Wassing shook his head as if saying “no, no, didn’t hurt”. It led to the strange situation that though Suppan landed more shots, he was the one showing some agitation. It was obvious he wanted to get even with Wassing by delivering as fast as possible a comparable blow as he had received the previous round. He started to rush things by trying too predictable one-two’s such as jab – overhead right from too far. Wassing could easily dodge these but couldn’t land punches himself.

The fourth round was comparable to the previous one but with a bit less aggression from the fighters. Wassing kept trying to land a hard right punch with which he was successful before. Because Suppan kept his left hand low, it was an alluring target. He couldn’t land one however. Suppan threw in some combinations to the body which was good for an alternation of his offense but there was no real impact. Wassing kept a close guard. Both fighters were cautious not to over commit themselves. This again was a close round with Suppan being a bit more active.

In the fifth round, Suppan took the initiative with some probing jabs, followed by his right. But Wassing kept observing correctly and was able to neutralize most of Suppans shots. Wassing was able to corner Suppan but could not exploit this advantage. Suppan showed in return that he was not impressed by Wassing by staying in the corner as if saying “would you like to try some more?”. Suppan hit Wassing with a good left hook to the body but again, without the impact as intended. When he had Wassing in the corner and under pressure, Wassing clinched himself out of it and wrestled Suppan into the corner. Suppan was more active in the rest of the round again.

The sixth round started with Wassing in the offensive role. He took the fight to Suppan and put him under pressure but without any real danger. Suppan was now in the counter punch role but he also could not really hurt Wassing. There were some good exchanges of punches for the both of them and it was clear that both fighters tried their best to secure victory. Both were equally tired but Suppan perhaps showed this a bit more. When the bell signaled the end of the round, they gave each other the respect they both deserved. Suppan raised his hand, feeling he had done enough to win the fight.

The final jury result was a split decision draw. Both fighters could live with it though also they both were disappointed. Wassing knew his chance to win the fight had passed after failing to knock Suppan down in the second round. Suppan knew he had landed more shots, had shown more initiative and besides the moment in the second round, never had been in real danger and maybe should have been given more rounds.

<Fight>1991882</Fight>
The fight between Steve Suppan and Zsolt Botos was the last fight of the evening and the result was a TKO for Suppan after Botos went down for the third time in the last round (fifth time in total).

The boxing event was hosted in a large tent on a hot summer night in the town of Hyfte-Lochristi, Belgium. It was the second pro fight for Suppan from the Netherlands and the 52th for the experienced journeyman Botos from the Czech Republic. Though Botos had lost most of his recent bouts, he certainly wasn't a walk-over. It was the faster, more agile Dutchman against the older but very sturdy Czech. Suppan took the initiative from the start and moved very well around Botos. He was able to hit him frequently but Botos made himself very small and kept low, almost presenting his forehead for Suppan as the preferred target. From time to time Botos would then leave his low stance by suddenly rising and simultaneously swing some hooks at Suppan. Most of them missed as Suppan was very sharp. He would dodge them or simply change position rapidly. The first three rounds showed this routine and they were all clearly for Suppan.
In the fourth round, Botos seemed to get tired and tried to slow Suppan down by clinching and leaning. Being the experienced fighter that he is, he succeeded in his aim in the beginning of this round, until Suppan started to evade him even faster. Halfway this round Botos gave Suppan a low blow. It was ruled as unintentional but it seemed that Botos needed this to get some air himself. After a few moments rest, Suppan resumed the fight and looked now determined to finish the fight without the judges scorecards being needed. He was able to hit Botos a few times on the body and as usual on his head and Botos took a knee. In the fifth round Suppan kept on landing his shots and it was almost a miracle that Botos again took only one knee in this round. In the sixth round, Suppan more or less swirled around Botos, landing his shots at free will. Botos still was sturdy but he wasn't a threat himself anymore. Botos took one knee, a second knee and after the third time he got down, the referee ended the fight.

The crowd showed their appreciation for this fight that almost went the distance by giving both boxers a standing ovation.

Steve Suppan made his pro debut in his hometown Vinkeveen in The Netherlands with a stunning knock out performance against the Bulgarian Blagoi Ivanov for whom it was his third pro fight.

There was a good atmosphere and the crowd cheered for Suppan as he entered the ring. He definitely was the crowd favourite. Both boxers looked fit and in good physical shape but Suppan looked the stronger man, by his appearance only. When the fight started Suppan made it clear that he meant business. He took little time to check his opponent or test his fighting style, he started right away with some fast jabs followed by combinations.
Ivanov was only for a short time able to avoid those combinations, Suppan was too fast and outmaneuvered him. Suppan caught Ivanonv with a hard right hook and sent him to the canvas by a right cross shortly afterwards.
Ivanov took the eight count but he was visibly shaken. Suppan went at him like a predator and didn't let go. When Ivanov went down the second time, the referee started counting but waved it off, concluding there was no point in continuing anymore.

The crowd was a bit suprised that the fight was already over but the sheer determination of Suppan to win, and win spectacular, was simply too much for Ivanov to withstand.

It was a promising pro debut for Steve Suppan at this event that was organized by his own Gym Suppan
