In the third round, Glazkov went down twice while throwing punches. The first was ruled a slip by referee Albert Earl Brown, but it appeared Glazkov was injured in the fall. Shortly after the bout resumed, Glazkov appeared to further injure his knee after landing a body shot on Martin. Glazkov went down backwards as the right leg gave way, and rolled over face first, his right knee shot. Referee Albert Earl Brown ruled it a knockdown, though Martin had not landed a punch. Glazkov beat the count, but was unable to continue. The brief vacant world title bout was over and Martin was crowned IBF World Heavyweight Champion. Glazkov was later diagnosed with a completely torn ACL, a dislocated knee, a torn medial meniscus and sprains of his MCL and LCL.</div>
