Terrance "T-Rex" Smith Jr. born on July 16, 1982 was raised by his grandmother in Oklahoma City until the age of 10. He moved to Lola, Kansas with his siblings to live with their father. As a result of child abuse, a foster home in Kansas became home for Smith, his sister Tia and his brother Twon. By this time Smith felt like his siblings protector, leader and king of their jungle, while just a kitten himself. When Smith started attending Parsons High School, he knew he needed to do something to provide a better life for his siblings. He began playing football and received a full ride scholarship to Kansas State . The road to a promising future was right around the corner for Smith until his plans to become college athlete came to a halt. The 17-year-old got in trouble with the law and his scholarship was taken away. Down and out, Smith ran away from his group home and headed back to Oklahoma City where he feels most at home.

While walking the streets of Oklahoma City, Smith came across a gym on N. E. 23rd Street ran by Buck Smith. Never did he think opening the doors to that gym would change his life forever. He walked in and watched boxer Darrin Humphrey spar multiple guys, knocking them out left and right. At that moment, Smith felt he could do the same, so with no fear in his voice he asked if he could give it a shot. He got in the ring and knocked out Humphrey like he had been boxing his whole life. On that day he became a boxer with no training and no experience. Just a young man seeking an opportunity to make a living. Smith describes his most memorable experience in the ring as a "wake-up call." In 2003, Smith faced Shaun George in LAS VEGAS and realized that boxing requires skill outside of street fighting techniques.
During Smith's professional career he has had 25 fights, eight of which were wins with five knock outs and 17 losses. Smith's influences are among some of the all time greats like Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier and Roy Jones Jr. In the midst of 2014, Smith was signed to Brawlers Sports Management Group by CEO Rick Mohamed. Smith now has a trainer Ricardo Espinosa, along with a team to lead his career toward his ultimate goal of becoming the next Cruiser weight Champion of the World.
