This controversial bout had its share of dramatic moments. Bobby Gunn dropped Gross twice in round one. During the second round, Gross dropped Gunn and continued to hit him with multiple punches while he was down. Boges did not disqualify nor take a point away from Gross. The IBA and ABC have both declared this bout a No-contest and vacated the IBA World Cruiserweight Title. The Tennesee Athletic Commission also refused to release the post fight drug test results of Shelby Gross. A rematch had been mandated but Gunn refused the fight.

AND NOW FOR THE TRUTH...GUNN CANNOT TAKE A PUNCH!!! HE GOT SLAUGHTERED BY MACCARINELLI AND FOUGHT LIKE A SCARED SCHOOL-GIRL. IN THIS GROSS FIGHT, BOBBY GUNN WAS KNOCKED THE "F" OUT BY SHELBY GROSS WITH A LEFT HOOK THAT CAUGHT THE GLASS-JAWED GUNN FLUSH. GUNN WAS STAGGERING AROUND THE RING LIKE A DRUNK BEFORE BEING KO'D FOR GOOD AFTER 3 KNOCKDOWNS IN THE SECOND ROUND. GUNN DID A FACE-PLANT INTO HIS OWN CORNER AFTER THE THIRD KNOCKDOWN AND THE FIGHT WAS OVER. BOBBY GUNN IS A FAKE AND A PHONY AND HE WILL NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN A CLUB-LEVEL FIGHTER. WOW! What a challenge this Super Middleweight, who has fought most of his career at middleweight, should be. I guess fighting 1 time in 4 years and getting TKO'd qualifies this bum as suitabel oppossion for the fake that is Bobby Gunn. These are the ONLY type of fighters that Bobby Gunn can beat. BOBBY GUNN WAS KNOCKED SILLY IN THE SECOND ROUND BY A VICIOUS LEFT HOOK AND DROPPED TO THE CANVAS LIKE A TRUCK LOAD OF HORSE MANURE! CHINA-CHINNED BUM THAT HE IS, GUNN WAS WALKING AROUND THE RING ON STILTS AND WAS KNOCKED THE "F" OUT AFTER 2 MORE KNOCK DOWNS IN THE SECOND ROUND. GUNN CLAIMS THAT HE WAS BRUTALIZED BY ILLEGAL BLOWS AFTER THE FIRST KNOCKDOWN, BUT THE REPLAY CLEARLY SHOWS THAT WHILE HE DID GET HIT WHILE DOWN, THE BLOWS WE NOT SIGNIFICANT. Gunn looked like a deer in the headlights and fought with about as much heart and passion as a scared school girl in this fight. The first signifcant punch that Maccarinelli threw had Gunn rocked and he was immediately moving away from the advancing Maccarinelli, looking for a place to fall down. Thankfully for Gunn, referee Mark Nelson put a stop to the carnage before the end of the first round, as it would have been the end of Bobby Gunn's boxing career if the fight had gone any further. Gunn talks a good game, but he is nothing but a fake and a bum. His chin is fragile and the only thing he has is a decent left hook. Don't believe the hype. Gunn will NEVER amount to ANYTHING in boxing or otherwise, as he is a mental midget. He is ALMOST a midget in real life anyway, standing a whopping 5' 7"...
