'''Juan Manuel Marquez''' is a 4 time World Featherweight Champion. Marquez was the [[WBO]] #1 contender for two years while [[Naseem Hamed]] was the WBO featherweight champion. To Hamed's credit, he did offer Marquez a fight in the summer of 2000, but Marquez declined. Marquez did end up getting a title shot against [[Freddie Norwood]]. both fighters were down in the fight. Norwood escaped with a disputed points decision.

After four years of racking up victories, Marquez got a second title shot, which came against [[Manuel Medina]], with him stopping the game veteran in the later rounds. Marquez made a few minor defenses plus unifying the [[WBA]] and [[IBF]] titles by dethroning [[Derrick Gainer]]. Marquez then took on 2 time world champion [[Manny Pacquiao]] in 2004. In a thrilling Fight Of The Year candidate, Marquez was knocked down three times in the first round, but gamely fought back to win many of the remaining rounds. Fans hotly debate, who deserved the win, but the official result was a [[Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez|draw]]. Marquez refused a rematch with Pacquiao, demanding too much money, and his career continued to stall.

Marquez was stripped of his IBF title as his scheduled defense aginst [[Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym]] failed to draw a bid, after it was sent to purse bid by the IBF. Marquez was also stripped of his WBA title. In March 2006, Marquez traveled to Indonesia to face WBA featherweight champion [[Chris John]], for just $31,500, and lost a [[Chris John vs. Juan Manuel Marquez|unanimous decision]].

Just 5 months later to capture the interim [[WBO]] Featherweight Title, he made 1 title defense until being upgraded to full status champion, making him a 3 time Featherweight Champion.

He moved up to the Super Featherweight division and challenged 3 weight world champion [[Marco Antonio Barrera]] for his [[WBC]] title, it was a very tactical fight with Marquez focusing on effective counter punching and Barrera focusing on fast combination punching, after 12 evenly matched rounds, Marquez was awarded a unanimous decision victory. He made 1 successful title defense, outpointing [[Rocky Juarez]].

In early 2008, Marquez took on [[Manny Pacquiao]] for a second time, like in many fights in his career, Marquez found himself in yet another evenly matched fight, after 12 rounds, Pacquiao was awarded a disputed split decision victory.

Yet unlike other close points defeats, Marquez retained his recognition at the elite level, getting moved up to #2 pound for pound. He continued to chase big fights as he moved up yet another weight class to challenge 2 time world champion [[Joel Casamayor]] for his lineal and [[Ring Magazine]] lightweight title. Marquez stopped the game Cuban in round 11 to become champion in a third weight class.

The next year Marquez squared off against 3 time lightweight champ Juan Diaz, both fighters exchanged clean heavy punches n a crowd pleasing action fight, by the middle rounds Marquez's punches started to take a toll on diaz as his knees dipped on several occasions. In Round 8, a left uppercut opened a bad cut on the the right eyelid of Juan Diaz. He was latter wobbled in the same round from another left uppercut. In Round 9, a combination sparked by a right hook and finished with a left uppercut sent Diaz falling forward and down to all fours and underneath the bottom rope, he made the count, then a tremendous right uppercut dropped Diaz flat on his back in the center of the ring.

Marquez stepped up again to another weight class, all the way up to Welterweight and faced [[Floyd Mayweather Jr.]], he was not able to do anything in that fight, and lost a 12 round shutout.

== Bout Summary ==
Klitschko came out working almost exclusively with his jab and mixed in a few straight hands sparingly. A straight right preceded by a jab caught Chagaev on the chin and put him down at 1:55 of Round 2. He was up quickly and received a [[mandatory eight-count]]. Following Round 4, Chagaev was visibly bleeding from the mouth, an obvious result of Wladimir's persistent 1-2 combinations that continually snapped back the head of Chagaev. In Round 5, action was temporarily paused as Klitschko was allowed time to recover from a punch that strayed low. Klitschko was warned in Round 6 for pushing down on the head of Chagaev. In Round 7, Chagaev developed a cut on his left eyebrow. Following the 7th Round bell, Chagaev threw a left hook that caught Klischko and was likely the most effective punch of the fight for Chagaev. The cut became increasingly a problem for Chagaev in the 8th Round as it opened up and covered most of the left side of Chagaev's face in blood. A strong 9th Round from Klitschko displayed that the fading Chagaev was becoming increasingly unable to defend himself from the right hand. The fight was called following the 9th Round after the referee visited Chagaev's corner. 
Klitschko controlled the action from the opening bell as he was able to use movement to keep Chagaev at the end of his straight punches. In fact, Klitschko rarely threw anything other than a jab or a straight right. Chagaev was simply unable to get inside and mounted very little in effective offense.

Martinez opened up a cut above the left eye of Cintron in the fifth. He began to step up the pace in the sixth round, setting himself up on the outside and throwing quicker punches. Martinez tagged him with a very hard left hand in the seventh and it sent Cintron down on the mat. Cintron thought the punch was actually a clash of heads and stayed down as the referee appeared to count to ten and the bell rang to close the seventh. It appeared that the fight was called by the referee, and was over for a few minutes, with all sorts of confusion in the ring. Then it was restarted with the fight going into the eight round. Both fighters were very mad in the eight, taunting each other and throwing punches. They continued the more active pace in the ninth, as Martinez was landing more punches. Cintron came on with a very strong round in the tenth, landing big punches, but Martinez came right back and outboxed Cintron in the eleventh. During the twelfth, the referee took a crucial point away from Martinez for hitting Cintron with a punch to the back of the head. The point deduction was critical to the scores and cost Martinez the decision. Martinez stepped on the gas in the final round while Cintron was staying away and not throwing enough. In the end, Everyone was surprised by the decision. 151 landed by Martinez and 103 landed by Cintron.
