There was a crowded house to witness the boxing contest between Arthur Cripps and Billy McCall at the Cyclorama. The battle was stopped in the sixteenth round by referee Basto, and Cripps was declared the winner.
McCall was favorite, at the outset at 6 to 4 on, but from the first his showing was disappointing; he has evidently lost his old-time dash; his boxing was slow in comparison with the lightning-like showers of his opponent.
Cripps practically had victory always assured, and his frequent visitations to McCall's frontispiece left that portion in a much-damaged condition. In the eleventh round, McCall's left eye was closing, and he gradually weakened. It was a cleanly-contested and scrupulously fair battle.
