  • Stiverne entered as a 3.25-to-1 betting underdog. [2]
  • The bout was originally scheduled for January 26th, then postponed to March 2, but Arreola came down with bronchitis and the fight was postponed for the second time. [3]
  • It was the first fight for Arreola in 14 months following his opening round knockout of Eric Molina (18-1). Stiverne had not fought in just over a year.
  • Arreola was ranked as the WBC #1 contender and Stiverne was ranked WBC #2.
  • The fight was part of a three-fight, dual-site broadcast by HBO. The main event of the broadcast was Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray.
  • The Canadian dominated the big Californian from the get-go winning a lop-sided unanimous decision.
