Palomino, Westminster, Calif., successfully defended his WBC welterweight championship Saturday night by stopping a game Armando Muniz, Monterey Park, Calif., with a TKO with 34 seconds left in the 15th and final round of an exciting brawl witnessed by 10,400 fans at the Olympic Auditorium. Muniz scored a knockdown with a quick combination in the 1st round and then dominated the next four rounds as they punched it out in close. The pro-Muniz crowd seemed to sense the tide turning in the 6th and 7th rounds as Palomino's fast hands continually beat his opponent to the punch.
