Muniz scored a knockdown with a quick combination in the 1st round and then dominated the next four rounds as they punched it out in close. The pro-Muniz crowd seemed to sense the tide turning in the 6th and 7th rounds as Palomino's fast hands continually beat his opponent to the punch. In the final round, a short right by Palomino had Muniz wobbling. The champion followed up with a straight right and then a left-right-left combination.
