  • Date: 1963-02-25
  • Location: Palais des Sports, Paris, Paris, France
  • "Eddie Perkins, former world junior welterweight champion from Chicago Monday night outpointed Angel (Robinson) Garcia of Cuba over 10 rounds in their bout at the Palais des Sports. Perkins was favored to win inside the distance, but Garcia refused to weaken before the stronger American and still was on his feet at the end. The crowd booed from the second round to the finish as both boxers refused to mix it. Not one hard punch was thrown by either man before the 6th. In the 7th Perkins opened up with a series of lefts and rights, opening a gash over the Cuban's left eye. Garcia staggered slightly but held on. He then back-pedaled for the rest of the fight to avoid the faster-punching Perkins and managed to keep out of further trouble." -United Press International
