"Ralph Dupas pounded out a close but unanimous decision over Charley Scott in a television 10 rounder at MSG Saturday night. Known for his footwork and boxing cleverness in 12 years of pro boxing, the 26 year old Dupas said he was going to turn slugger in an effort to please the fans more and get fatter paydays. He did just that. He left both the dancing slippers and bicycle behind and met Scott, a stiff puncher, toe-to-toe for most of the exciting bout. Every round was close except the 10th which Dupas won handily. He nailed the incoming Scott with a solid right to the jaw midway in the final round. That was the best punch of the fight and earned Ralph the decision on referee Teddy Martin's card." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-4 Dupas
- Referee Martin had it even 5-5 in rounds but scored it for Dupas 6-5 on supplemental points due to Dupas' strong final round.
