"Pittsburgh heavyweight contender Bob Baker looked forward today to his Dec. 5th date with Nino Valdes at Cleveland following his tune-up 10 round decision over JD Reed of San Francisco here Tuesday night. Baker jumped off to a quick start and finished strong to take the unanimous decision. Reed, who wasn't expected to finish the fight, gave Baker plenty of trouble in the middle rounds. Baker's combination punching pushed him to a quick start in the first three rounds, but Reed shook Baker with a right hand in the 4th. However, Reed tired and Baker came on fast in the last three rounds, slugging the Californian almost at will in the last round." -United Press
