- Wrede the confessed bar-room brawler, floundered around the ring. Gladney showed a good left jab, learned in his amateur days. However Gladney's straight right, which he landed about 50 times, either has no power, or Wrede has the rock-like chin of George Chuvalo.
- Both boxers were tired from the first round on. Maybe it should have been a two rounder.
