"'Lightnin' Luddie' Lightburn of British Honduras scrambled the lightweight ratings tonight with a body attack that gained him a unanimous 10 round decision over 3rd ranked Ralph Dupas of New Orleans in their ultra-fast TV-radio fight at MSG. Lightburn, unable to reach his switch-hitting and side-stepping opponent's head in the 1st round, began concentrating on the mid-section to put the brakes on Dupas' speed and bring down his protecting arm. Lightburn forced the fight in every round but at times was given a boxing lesson by the 20 year old 'wonder boy' from Louisiana, who baffled him with his will-o-the-wisp tactics. There were no knockdowns, but Dupas suffered a cut at the corner of his left brow in the 7th round, and it bothered him considerably thereafter. Lightburn had a mouse under both eyes." -United Press
- Unofficial UP scorecard - Even fight on rounds but gave it to Lightburn with supplemental points 6-5
