"Jimmy Beecham, 153, the 21 year old welterweight from Philadelphia, made his television debut last night but he was no hit with the fans as he outpointed Hector Constance, 148, of Trinidad in a boring 10-round bout that was met with some loud Bronx cheers at the end. Beecham, now winner of 15 out of 17 pro bouts, drew boos as early as the 2nd round. He clinched constantly with Constance. When Hector, 25, tried to throw a punch he usually found his glove pinned under Beecham's arm. The crowd screamed at referee eddie Coachman to get them apart and make them fight. They finally opened up in the 9th, when Beecham shoved Constance into the ropes and landed several good combinations, while Hector was scoring with stiff counter-punches." -Associated Press
