Ryff buckled Davis's knees with a right hand to the jaw in the 2nd round. At the end of the 6th round, referee Ebetts had ringside physician Samuel Swetnick examined Davis, who responded by saying, "He (Ryff) is too fast for me." Ryff would buckle Davis's knees again with another right hand later in the bout.
