Jones protested vigorously but unofficially against the unanimous 10 round decision awarded Giardello in MSG last night. Most of the 3,093 fans protested also, with a booing that lasted more than five minutes after the nationally televised and broadcast fight was finished. Giardello received the verdict of the three ring officials, who voted for him in unison on a round-by-round basis." -United Press

Post fight comments
- "We're negotiating for a possible title fight at the Garden on October 22nd. Of course that would depend on Bobo Olson keeping his title against Rocky Castellani at San Francisco in August." -Joey Giardello
- "I don't see how they can regard Giardello as a challenger until he has a return bout with me. I know I won that fight last night; but I guess the syndicate's too strong." -Bobby Jones
