"Battered but happy Joey Giambra, Buffalo, moved up in the middleweight ranks today after hammering out a unanimous 10 round decision over tough Joey Giardello of Brooklyn. The sharp-punching Buffalo youth showed plenty of heart and staying power last night as he came from behind to outpunch the ringwise Giardello before 7,273 fans. As Giardello slowed after the 4th round, Giambra began finding the range consistently with a sharp left hook. He staggered the Brooklynite with a series of punches in the 7th and had him glassy-eyed in a neutral corner in both the 8th and 9th. The furious action slowed in the 10th and final round but Giambra already had clinched the decision." -United Press
