"Don Grant of Los Angeles, who lost by a TKO to Carl (Bobo) Olson in the 7th round Tuesday night, was taken to a hospital this morning for observation. Olson crowded Grant throughout. In the 2nd, he landed several lefts to the head that sent Grant staggering into the ropes. In the 6th, Olson buckled Grant's knees but he did not go down. Referee Frankie Carter stopped the bout after Olson floored Grant with a left hook to the head. Grant got up after a two-count and Bobo was punching him at will when Carter stepped in." -Associated Press

  • Grant was taken to Highland Hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion and bruised kidneys. He was then transferred to Providence Hospital where he was hospitalized in fair condition. Grant never fought again.
