- "I had God on my side." -Rafael Herrera
"World bantamweight champion Rafael Herrera of Mexico retained his title here Saturday night by knocking out fellow Mexican and former bantamweight champ Romeo Anaya in the 6th round. Anaya, who entered the fight with a reputation as a hard hitter, was dominated throughout the bout scheduled for 15 rounds while Herrera finished the bout unmarked. The stylish Herrera delighted a big, noisy crowd at the Sports Palace with his customary display of non-stop attack. He opened up a cut under Anaya's left eye in the 3rd round, relaxed in the 4th and 5th, but demolished his challenger in the 6th. He left Anaya dangling hopelessly through the ropes." -United Press International
