"Mexico's Rodolfo Martinez won a unanimous decision from Hisami Numata of Japan in 15 heats at Miyagi Sports Center. The heavily favored champion kept the WBC version of the world bantamweight title. Numata fought so negatively that he would have been disqualified for a lack of fighting spirit if the card had taken place outside of Japan.
