Rodolfo Martinez 118 lbs beat Go Numata 118 lbs by UD in round 15 of 15

"Mexico's Rodolfo Martinez won a unanimous decision from Hisami Numata of Japan in 15 heats at Miyagi Sports Center. The heavily favored champion kept the WBC version of the world bantamweight title. Numata fought so negatively that he would have been disqualified for a lack of fighting spirit if the card had taken place outside of Japan. For 45 minutes, Mumata kept running around for fear of Martinez' vaunted power. Jimmy Rondeau, U.S. third man, failed to order the fast runner to stand and fight." -Ring magazine, January 1976 issue

Scorecards (all for Martinez)

  • Referee Jimmy Rondeau - 147-141
  • Judge Hiroyuki Tezaki - 147-144
  • Judge Benjamin Marques - 147-146
