“In the six round semi-final, Russell Tague, 130, Eldridge, Iowa, and Davey Moore, 130, Springfield Ohio, put on a real slugging match. Moore scored with a left hook to the body followed by a terrific right cross to the chin dropping Tague for a nine count. This proved to be a big surprise as Tague was an overwhelming favorite. Tague got up at nine to finish the round, which was the second. Moore continued to punish Tague in the third with jolting lefts and rights. Both boys slugged it out for the remainder of the bout with the fans in an uproar. A hotly disputed decision was given to Tague.”
