Davey Moore 131 lbs beat Hilario Morales 134 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

"Featherweight champion Davey Moore gunned for bigger money fights today after handily outpointing Mexican scrapper Hilario Morales in a non-title 10 rounder at the Civic Auditorium. Moore crashed a right hand to the head that put the 20 year old from Mexico City down in the 1st round for a mandatory eight-count. Morales weathered the storm and, battling with his back to the ropes most of the fight, kept intact his record of never being stopped. Moore hurt him with a left and right to the head in the 6th and again in the 8th with two left hooks to the mid-section. Morales came back to beat Davey to the punch a few times in the 9th, but was hanging on by the 10th." -Associated Press

  • Unofficial AP scorecard - 99-91 Moore

  • "Sure I'd like to fight Brown. I knocked him down in a sparring session in 1955 and it was no accident. I'd fight anybody if there was money in it." -Davey Moore, when asked about a fight with lightweight champion Joe Brown.
