"Featherweight champion Davey Moore gunned for bigger money fights today after handily outpointing Mexican scrapper Hilario Morales in a non-title 10 rounder at the Civic Auditorium. Moore crashed a right hand to the head that put the 20 year old from Mexico City down in the 1st round for a mandatory eight-count. Morales weathered the storm and, battling with his back to the ropes most of the fight, kept intact his record of never being stopped. Moore hurt him with a left and right to the head in the 6th and again in the 8th with two left hooks to the mid-section. Morales came back to beat Davey to the punch a few times in the 9th, but was hanging on by the 10th." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 99-91 Moore

- "Sure I'd like to fight Brown. I knocked him down in a sparring session in 1955 and it was no accident. I'd fight anybody if there was money in it." -Davey Moore, when asked about a fight with lightweight champion Joe Brown.
