Davey Moore 129 lbs beat Kid Irapuato 127 lbs by TKO in round 6 of 10
- Date: 1961-09-19
- Location: Plaza de Toros, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico
- The fighters were forced to fight through a dust storm when winds of 20 mph whipped up in the outdoor bullring.
- "I like the fans here in Juarez and would like to come back. What a difference from Tijuana." -Davey Moore
"Not that Davey Moore, 129, needed to be sharp to beat his opponent, Ramon (Kid Irapuato) Perez, 127, last night in the downtown bullring. It was no contest all the way. But the fact that the champ was sharp was pleasing to the 5,000 spectators who attended the fight. The Kid spent the first three rounds back-pedaling as fast as his legs would allow. Urged on by the crowd, the Kid finally moved in about the 4th round. It was gallant, but foolish, and Moore pounded him freely with both hands. By the end of the 6th round, the Kid was so badly cut up about the face that the ring physician stopped it. The result was recorded as a 7th round TKO." -El Paso Herald-Post
