"World featherweight champion Johnny Famechon of Australia used his quickness and greater experience Saturday to pound out a unanimous 10 round decision over Arnold Taylor of South Africa in a non-title bout. In the 4th round a flurry of lefts and rights from Famechon visibly jolted the South African featherweight and bantamweight champion. Taylor's moment of glory came in the 6th round when he landed a great short right hook to the head which stopped the Australian in his tracks. This was followed by another flurry of punches but the Australian, drawing on his reservoir of experience blocked, slipped and rode the punches until the end of the round. Famechon was always much quicker to the punch and a great many of Taylor's blows slipped harmlessly off his opponents arms and gloves. There were no knockdowns." -United Press International
