- Referee Mickey Vann reportedly gave Kristjansen a few extra seconds to recover following the second knockdown, much to the displeasure of Gianluca Branco, who was working Zoff's corner and believed the bout should have been stopped. Branco protested Vann's actions furiously, but to no avail.
