"Middleweight contender Yama Bahama from the island of Bimini gave Jose Gonzalez of Puerto Rico a long-range bombing Saturday night and won a lop-sided decision in their nationally televised fight at MSG. Ironically, it was the veteran West Indian who finished the stronger, although young Gonzalez is famous for his 'stretch' runs because of his persistent attack that usually wears an opponent down. In the 10th round, Bahama shook him several times and knocked him back onto his heels three times in the final exchange. There were no knockdowns and no cuts." -United Press International
