"Sharp-punching Paulie Armstead, 135, scored a hotly-disputed unanimous decision over Mexico's Baby Vasquez, 134, last night in a 10-round main event at the Olympic Auditorium. The young Los Angeles lightweight was the unanimous choice of referee Charlie Randolph and judges Dick Young and Russ Bradford, but he was not the pick of the partisan Mexican fans who witnessed the bout. Disappointed backers of Vasquez, 6th-ranked lightweight contender, booed lustily, set a small blaze, uprooted several rows of chairs and littered the ring with debris in protest of the decision." -United Press
