"Farid Salim, Argentine middleweight champ, won a unanimous 10-round decision over substitute Joey Giambra of Hollywood, Calif., last night with persistent long left jabs to the head at St. Nicholas Arena. Salim weighed 164 to Giambra's 159 1/2 for their nationally televised fight, which was witnessed by 1,047 spectators. Giambra, 30, gave 25 year old Salim an excellent fight. There were no knockdowns, but each was rocked several times by hooks to the head. Giambra - a former top-contender - surprised by being stronger in the second half of the bout than the South American iron man." -United Press International
