"Ralph Dupas of New Orleans thinks he is closer to a lightweight title match after a split 10-round decision over Armand Savoie of Montreal last night. And Dupas' manager, Whitey Esnault, wants a bout against rising young Cisco Andrade of Compton, Calif., to help clinch a shot at the crown held by Paddy DeMarco. Dupas relied on his famed speed all the way, bewildering Savoie in the early rounds with lightning lefts and defensive maneuverability. He took the 3rd and 4th rounds by a wide margin. In the 3rd he landed seven straight lefts without taking a punch. Savoie's best showing was in the 8th, when he scored heavily in close fighting and beat Dupas to the punch with several overhand rights." -Associated Press
